Air Asia is the largest Asian Low Cost Carrier and we have flown them before.
They do have a massive network and on previous flights (see reviews) we were quite happy with them.
This flight to say it nicely was a disaster.
The airline became a rip off for customer.
On the Ground:
Air Asia has the most flights out of Bangkok Don Muang but they also offer flights out of Suvarnabhumi Airport.
As we bought regular tickets for this flight and simply added some ancillary items such as food and drinks.
The Airline requires you to check in online before the flight as otherwise you have to pay a check-in fee at the airport counter. In addition they ask you to go to the kiosk at the airport to print your baggage tags and drop them at the baggage drop off counter.
We have done so to find out at the Baggage Counter that the tags printed at the kiosk are not working sbf are not recognized by the system. They were torn off and replaced with new bag tag labels. The agent also printed out new boarding passes and told us we should not use the self printed one!
Dear @Air Asia why are you doing this?
In addition the agent at the counter was talking with such low voice that you could not understand a word and we had to ask several times what she was saying or asking.
She was rather unfriendly and super unmotivated.
The process to get to the domestic gates has changed in Bangkok.
You have to go through a manual boarding pass check and then you are already in the terminal building.
The security check is now done in the terminal itself. There is 1 security check point with 4 lanes for 4 gates.
No queue at the security check point, another boarding pass check and you are at the gate.

We didn't use any lounge as Air Asia is a low cost carrier.

Boarding started around 15 minutes after the indicated time.
No announcement made for pre boarding. As of Group 2 boarding an agent walked around with a placard stating "Group 2“ and after some time an agent got the splemdid idea to use a microphone for the boarding announcement as no one moved.
Gate staff was okay. Nothing friendly but they did their job they get paid for.
Whilst boarding the crew was in the cabin and helped to find the seats.
No greetings, nothing.
The longer on board the crew became more abd and more unfriendly and acted like police officers.
Inflight:
This Airbus 320 is configured with a 3/3 economy class seating.
Legrest for regular Caucasian people is on the absolute minimum, the seats aren't really comfortable.
After take off the cabin crew did an announcement that there would be no regular service. The crew would distribute the pre ordered drinks and snacks but you are not allowed to eat or drink them on board. You have to take the food home in a doggy bag!!!
This is a complete rip off of your customers. Online you push them to buy or pre order food and drinks for the flight and then you are not allowed to eat or drink them?
We refused to take the meals and drinks as it makes no sense to take a already heated!!!! on board meal to a hotel. The family next to us had hot meals ordered for the entire family (4 pieces) and they took them. Even they said they just take the food home to feed the cats!
Seriously Air Asia??? This is ripping off your customers and have you tried to eat a preheated hot meal 2-3 hours later?
Sorry but this rule with the doggy bag must have been established by a desk idiot in an office who has never tried a cold airline meal 2-3 hours later.
The toilet I went to was in terrible shape. The closet doors for the paper hand towels was kept together by tape only.
The soap has been punched with water.

It gives me the impression, that Thai Air Asia has big financial issues and that they are trying to make every dollar possible with doggy bag food and with cutting costs.

No inflight entertainment.
No WiFi available.

Baggage delivery was absolutely outstanding. When arriving the baggage belt around 10 minutes after arrival, all bags were already on the belt.

All in all one of the most terrible flights I've been on. Every bus service is more friendly.
All staff were below average and none of them could talk in full sentences.
Check-in agent: “put you bag / I need your passport / give me your passport etc.“ not a single please abd and thank you.
Cabin crew exactly the same. No please no thank you. They acted like police officers. Running through the cabin yelling seatbelts, seatbelts or switch off items etc.

You need to be masochist to enjoy such a flight. Absolutely terrible.

We are not at all looking forward to our return flight.
No, we can not recommend Air Asia after this experience.
