On the Ground:
We checked in on the mobile phone the day before and because there are no more covid restrictions when traveling to Switzerland, the boarding passes were sent right away.
As we are traveling for a weekend get away we had no bags to be checked in.
The Security Check was good. There was no queue at all and we were through in no time. Agents at security check were friendly and chatted with the passengersΓ€.
Air Malta is using the LaValette lounge. There is an issue for Air Malta business guests as well as all other airline guests with Lounge access. When you check-in mobile or web and have your
boarding pass printed or on your mobile phone you have to wait to enter the lounge.
The lounge is requesting a voucher from every passenger which can only be optained at the check-in desk. Hello... It makes no sense nowadays when people check in on their phone or web to pass
via check-in desk. So you have to wait until an agent in the Lounge has called the check-in desk to get an approval for your entry.
The lounge itself is very nice and has lots of seating facilities. The big asset of the LaValette lounge is the nice and beautiful terrace. You can sit outside and overlook the apron.
The choice of food and drinks is very good. They have some hot items as well as delicious sandwiches and additional snacks. They offer also a fully stocked bar.
Staff at the gate was rather unfriendly and had a couldn't care less attitude. They made the announcement tgw4 that you need to show your boarding pass and passport for boarding but when
wanting to hand out/show my passport he said i don't need it. Boarding started exactly as indicated on the boarding pass and a pseudo
priority boarding was conducted. Pseudo because boarding was done by bus qvd and it makes no sense to offer priority into a bus.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member and another crew member.
No crew in the cabin.
It is really sad that no welcome drink is served on Air Malta. I don't need anything fency but at least some water would be nice, especially going into summer.
Inflight:
The seats are very comfortable and ok. The regular European Business Class with a 3/3 seating configuration where the middle seats remains empty. This Airbus 320 comes from SriLankan
Airlines. It has different seats than the one we flew on coming from Zurich. This plane also had less legroom and there wasn't a tray on the middle seat.
After take off, the crew started with a drink service and then distributed the menu cards.
Shortly after a cold meal was served on a full size tray.
The tray looked again amazing and the food was super delicious and fresh.
The "lunch" consisted of a nice big salad with shrimps, a delicious trilogy of bread, fresh fruits, a dessert and condiments.
The crew asked for refills all the time and no drinks or glasses were served without a doiley.
The cabin crew was friendly and helpful and performed a very nice service.
There was unfortunately not a lot of interaction with the passengers and after the service they weren't seen anymore for the rest of the flight. (more than an hour) I credit this to the COVID
situation.
All announcements doesn't matter if from the flight deck or from the cabin crew were not understandable. Way to fast and to loud.
No Inflight entertainment system on this Air Malta Airbus 320.
No WiFi available on this flight.
Deboarding worked very well and as we had no bags we were out of the airport in no time.
All in all a good flight with Air Malta. They showed consistency in their Inflight service and product and I really liked it.
I would definitely recommend them for future flights.
