I checked in online the day before and as it was a one night business trip, I had no bag to be checked
I arrived 1 hour 30 minutes prior departure at the airport.
The priority security check was a disaster. There were massive queues and waiting time was around 20 minutes. As the priority lane also served for crews, one of the lanes was almost blocked
constantly.
As I still had enough time, i visited the Austrian Airlines Senator Lounge for a quick coffee.
The lounge itself was super crowded and the food offered looked super cheap. Drinks selection was good.
I
arrived 5 minutes prior the indictated boarding time at the gate. No. Agents were present.
The gate agent arrived 2 minutes after the indicated boarding time.
Around 10 minutes after the indicated boarding time the agent made an announcement, that the flight crew would still be missing and boarding will be delayed.
20 minutes after boarding time the boarding finally started.
Priority boarding was conducted as per procedures.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member.
The crew was present in the cabin whilst boarding but that was about it.
Inflight:
The Airbus A320 has a 3/3 seating configuration. I was lucky, that th the middle seat remained empty. The legroom is okay for a short haul aircraft and on this aircraft the seat was also
okay.
Announcement from the cockpit and cabin crew were good and understandable. Both spoke slowly and clearly.
Austrian
Airlines has even further reduced the minimalistic inflight service from the Lufthansa Group, which apparently was introduced on multiple customer demand.
With Swiss and Lufthansa at least you get a little water bottle of 3dl water. With Austrian Airlines you get a cup with 1dl.
And as with all Lufthansa Group Airlines you also get a small chocolate with Austrian.
Apparently the Senator special only existet yesterday as on today's flight nothing was offered.
Like this, Austrian Airlines is the worst carrier concerning their inflight service from the Lufthansa Group...
and in general the Lufthansa Group standard is already below zero.
The cabin crew was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. No smiles, no friendliness, they simply were on board and had to do their work.
No passion, no customer interaction no engagement, nothing.
The
Austrian Airlines Airbus A320 has no entertainment system at all.
WiFi
would have been available on this flight but with only around 30 minutes cruising time I didn't try it.
Well
after today's flight I would say that I would simply choose the cheapest option to get to and from Vienna as the service today was definitely nothing to write home about and it is equal to every
low cost carrier.
