On the Ground:
We booked a business class ticket on FlySafair so everything is included in the fare.
This includes a dedicated business class check-in, security, boarding baggage handling and lots of free bags. The only thing not included is the lounge but we were able to add it for a reasonable
fee to our booking.
FlySafair has eliminated the special Business Class Check-in in Durban. There are priority check in counters available with everyone who bought priority with their ticket.
There was no queue at all at ckeck-in.
The
check-in agent was friendly and helpful. She chatted with us all the time and the process was done in no time.
No queue
at all at the security check point. Staff was swift and friendly.
For this
sector I did not buy lounge access in Durban as we did not like the lounge at all in Durbs on our last flight.
Boarding started at the indicated time but no preboarding was provided. Passengers just mixed after queueing correctly at the gate.
Staff was rather useless at the Gate in Durban.
At the
aircraft door we were greeted by two cabin crew members. Both were super friendly and helpful
Inflight:
The Boeing 737-800 is configured with a 3/3 seating layout.
If you buy a business ticket, then the middle seat is kept empty. Seats were comfortable and the legrest was very good.
Once airborne, the crew started with the Inflight service.
With the business ticket you can choose F&B items for up to 85R per Person.
The F&B selection they offer is great and prices are very very reasonable.
So I did choose a beer and a sandwich.
Bathrooms were super clean and fully stocked.
No
Inflight entertainment and no WiFi available on this flight.
After the
Flight:
Deboarding was a hassle. Full aircraft, heavy rain and an open stand position in Johannesburg. Everyone got wet.
Baggage
delivery worked good. Bags were delivered 20 minutes after arrival and all priority bags were delivered after the handluggage which was taken away at the aircraft door.
Summary:
All in all a very good flight with a South African Lowcoster.
They have the processes and everything as a low coster but they still treat you as a Guest / Passenger on board.
Great priority product with exactly what you need and super friendly and helpful staff.
