Spoiler: completely positively surprised from ITA Airways. If they continue like the service I had on my flight, they will be the best
airline in the Lufthansa Group.
On the Ground:
I checked-in on my mobile via the ITA Airways App.
As I traveled only for one night, I had a small backpack as handluggage only and had nothing to check in.
Zurich Airport and the Kantonspolizei showed once more why Zurich Airport won best airport in Europe again.
There was no, I repeat no queue at the security check point and also staff was friendly.
I was through security in 2 minutes and headed to the Lounge.
We visited the Aspire lounge which is the contacted lounge in Zurich for ITA Airways.
The main Aspire Lounge was just newly renovated and refurbished so I decided to try it.
The new lounge interior is more modern and offers a lot more seating and with the new interior it also feels much bigger.
The F&B product was good. A small buffet with cold breakfast items as well as a little buffet with hot items were available.
The food was fresh and tasty and the staff was friendly and very present.
I arrived at the Gate 10 minutes prior the indicated boarding time.
The agent was already present at the gate and super friendly helping customers.
Boarding started a little after the indicated boarding time.
Announcement were made and they were clear and understandable.
Priority boarding was conducted according procedures.
At the aircraft door I was greeted by the responsible Cabin Attendant. She was super friendly and smiling. Chatting with passengers whilst boarding.
Once everyone was boarded, a welcome drink was distributed. It makes such a difference if you can choose your drinks from a tray instead of just finding a water bottle on the seat or one
being handed out.
Inflight:
The seats are good in terms of comfort and legroom.
ITA Airways short haul Airbus A320 fleet is equipped with a regular European Business Class with a 3/3 seating configuration where the middle seats remain empty. Also here they offer again
more attention to detail. The seat is not just empty, it offers a tray.
After take off, the crew started with the service.
Mamma Mia.... I hope that the Lufthansa Group is adapting their service to ITA standards and not vice versa.
On a flight of 1 hour and 5 minutes, ITA Airways offers a full size tray consisting of a hot lunch item (in my case a kind of pizza/focaccia) a fresh salad and a super delicious tiramisu
cake. There was also some bread and butter on the trays.
The in charge flight attendant was asking several times for drinks and coffee.
The food
was very delicious, freshly made and abounded for such a short flight.
The
Cabin Crew was super welcoming and friendly. They interacted with the customers during service. You could see that they liked what they do.
Announcement from the flight deck were good. They were clear and understandable.
The announcements from the cabin crew were understandable as well just a little on the fast side.
The Airbus has no inflight entertainment system.
No WiFi available.
As I
have no bags checked in, I can not comment on that.
All in all a great flight with ITA Airways. I was very very positively surprised.
Good and friendly crew with a great inflight product.
Definitely something to repeat myself and try them on longhaul as well.
