We had a scheduled transit time of 1 hour 20 minutes.
As our inbound flight from Zurich arrived at the stand with a delay of 40 minutes we had only 40 minutes left to connect.
We arrived at an open stand and were transported by bus to the terminal.
Luckily we didn't have to change the terminal and we didn't have to go trough security again.
We arrived at the departure gate for Helsinki 20 minutes prior departure when we learned that our flight will be delayed as well for about 25 minutes.
This is was awesome as this gives the luggage a chance as well to make the connection.
As we had a short connection we did not use any lounge in Frankfurt.
Staff at the gate was 100% Lufthansa Frankfurt Gate staff. They were sitting on their chair at the gate, arms folded and just staring into their screen. No announcement about the delay, no
nothing.
Once they could board, one of the the agents made the announcement for pre-boarding, then followed by priority and economy by group numbers.
That was about it, as of then only the selboarding gates were used.
At the aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member (Purser) and another crew member.
No welcome drinks, no water no nothing was distributed after boarding.
Inflight:
Lufthansas short haul Airbus fleet is equipped with a regular European Business Class with a 3/3 seating configuration where the middle seats remain empty.
The seats were okay and also offered enough legroom.
Flight deck crew did some great announcements. Very clear and understandable.
The announcements of the purser were amazing. Slow, clear and super understandable.
After take off, an aperitif was served or let's say the first round of drinks was offered.
Then they passed again with drinks and offered a hot breakfast. Which is somehow strange as we took off around 11AM Helsinki time in Frankfurt and landing is expected at 1:10PM
Never the less, the food was delicious. The full size tray consisted of some cold cuts, a yoghurt with fresh fruits, the hot meal as well as bread, butter and jam.
Presentation was okay but the quality was really good.
They also served an apple as part of their concept "tasting Heimat"
The
cabin crew in business class did an amazing job. They were super friendly, welcoming and went the extra mile. The service was spotless and during the whole flight they passed around every 15
minutes to see if everything was okay and if they could bring anything else. Absolutely great service and customer interaction.
The Lufthansa Airbus 320 family has no inflight entertainment system. Safety demonstration is carried out manually and that's it.
The aircraft would have been equipped with WiFi. Prices ranged from 3€ for messaging only up until 12€ for all in. For a 2 hour flight prices are on the higher end.
We for ourselves did not use the WiFi.
Baggage delivery in Helsinki was awesome. First bag delivered 16 minutes after arrival on the parking stand.
Priority bags were delivered first.
All in all a very good short haul flight with Lufthansa in Business Class.
The crew did an amazing job and the product on board was okay too. The product at the airport needs to improve.
Let's see on our return if they can keep up. Based on this flight we could recommend Lufthansa for future travels.
