On the Ground:
Check-in was not a pleasant experience. First of all, the international check-in area is way to small. There is no space at all. In addition, there are no seats and no F&B outlets.
We arrived super early at the airport as we came directly from Safari and there was no space to sit or to have a drink. The area is overcrowded and way to small.
The check-in opened 4 hours prior departure. Our check-in agent was super bored, unmotivated and rude. She couldn't have cared less.
Emigration was no problem at all and there was no queue.
Same wirh the security check point. No queue and agents were friendly and funny.
As Business Class lounge, Lufthansa has contracted the Turkish Airlines Primeclass lounge near gate 13.
The lounge is a farse, and it should not be called lounge as it is a better waiting area with a small F&B offering.
There was no space, seating was super cramped and there was no chance to keep distance with others.
They oddered some popcorn and nuts as snacks, some small sandwiches and a very limited selection of hot food. There was a fridge where you could grab a softdrink and alcohol had to be ordered. Drinks were okay, food was so so.
The gate process was something I simply did not understand and chaos pure.
The indicated boarding time was 21:35 which was already 1hour 25minutes prior departure. At 21:25 when I checked the info screens I could see "final boarding call". So we headed to the gate to find out that they were boarding into the lounge and strictly separated all passengers by their boarding zone. Boarding itself only started 35 minutes prior departure. Everyone was squeezed in the lounge to wait for boarding.
Boarding was done as per procedure and by zone numbers.
Unfortunately we had a bus gate as the aircraft was parked at the gate next to ours. So a bus brought us to the neighboring gate. Back up the stairs into the boarding bridge and then we were able to board.
Staff at the gate as well as additional document checks were super unfriendly and rude. Announcements were made with a regular microphone and two stereo speakers.
At the aircraft door we were greeted heartly by a charming crew member.
The seats were already equipped with a fluffy pillow and a nice blanket. The headphones, as well as a bottle of water and the amenity kit were prepared and hidden in a compartment.
On the ground welcome drinks were served and the menu was distributed. Good to see that Lufthansa brought back the welcome drinks as these were still missing 10 days ago.
The crew also introduced themselves personally.
Inflight:
The Lufthansa business class isn't the newest product on the market anymore. Never the less the seats are comfortable and offer some sort of privacy thanks to the reversed herringbone layout. Lufthansa flies the Airbus A330-300 in three different configurations. Our aircraft had 48 seats in business class. The seats are configured in a 2/2/2 configuration and all seats are fully lie flat. An old but solid product and okay if you travel as a couple or with friends.
For alone traveling customers we would recommend to reserve the center seats as these have all aisle access. As said, there is no privacy with these seats.
After take off the welcoming and lovely cabin crew started with the inflight service.
First, they came along to take the orders for a drink/cocktail before the meal as well as the main course.
The tray table was covered with a tablecloth and shortly an aperitif including some nuts were served.
Then they brought a fullsize tray with the a salad, main course and some bread and butter. They offered different drinks and we decided to taste some red wine. The meals are still covered due to covid but that is no issue.
Afterwards the crew offered cheese and dessert. With every course we were asked for additional drinks. To round everything up we ended the meal with a delicious espresso and a cognac. The food was good and really tasty.

Also this time the flight attendants took their time to chat and interact with the passengers. It was great to see the interaction as well as the passion of the crew for what they do. The entire crew in Business delivered top customer service.

Bathrooms were checked throughout the flight and always refilled

The amenity kit is OK and offers the regular. content. (socks, toothbrush, earplugs and some lipbalm and cream). Lufthansa must have two different kit's (day flight and night flight) as the amenity kit today did have the eyemask.
Lufthansa has picked up the reusable aspect of the amenity kits, today's kit can be used / re-used as a pencil case.
The inflight entertainment is good and the screens are okay with a good size. This aircraft today was older or at least equipped with an older IFE than the one from the outbound flight.
The resolution on the screen was rather bad and this IFE had the old Airbus handheld and touch screen.

The aircraft would have been equipped with wifi as well as a GSM connection.

As we prefer to enjoy the flight and service and appreciate the offline time we hardly never buy the access package.
Prices for wifi are okay. Lufthansa and it's provider are offering 3 different packages ranging from 7€ for a chat function only to 29€ for the big thing. But.... after a certain consumption of data, speed is limited to 64kbps.

In between the two services, the crew never passed actively with drinks through the cabin. You had to go to the galley (what I did) so I could stretch my legs or push the call button. But this time the crew announced that you have to actively contact them to avoid additional customer contact due to covid.

Around 1,5 hours prior landing a continental breakfast was served.
A full size tray was handed out and it was already set with fresh fruits, butter, a cold item and the crew offered actively bread and croissants. Drinks were offered actively with the meal and a top up was offered when the crew cleared the trays.

Size wise it was a good continental breakfast. Unfortunately for our taste the cold snack did not really work. At 3:40 AM offering a hummus, cuacamole and some salmon with cream cheese was a little to much. I would have preferred classic cold cuts (cheese, ham etc).

Summary:

All in all another good flight with Lufthansa.
Again a highlight for us was the super charming and hearty cabin crew. They did an excellent job and super customer service. They really showed super consistency on both flights.

We will definitely choose Lufthansa again for future travels and can recommend them in Business Class on longhaul flights.
