On the Ground:
Check-in in Adelaide was the worst I have ever seen in my life.
The agent at the business counter was rude, unfriendly an he was even raising his voice against customers. A complete desaster.

After check-in we passed the security check to get to the gate area.


It was rather empty and we were able to clear the security quite fast.

Adelaide Airport has not a lot of international flights and that is why there is only one Lounge.

You can use the Qantas Lounge but it is in the domestic part of the terminal.
The Lounge is huge in size to cope with all the Qantas domestic traffic but the choice of food and snacks is very limited.
The choice of drinks is good.

We left the Lounge on time and did proceed to the gate. Before being able to go to the gate we had to pass again a second security screening.
This is really odd and useless as it is the same check again.


If you are not passing via the lounge and going from check-in directly to the gate you have to pass 2 security screenings within 3 minutes.
Same check is done again so I am asking myself is the first β€ždomesticβ€œ security check not secure enough?

After the second screening you pass the passport control which is fully automated and super fast.

So we were at the Gate at 20:30 as indicated on the boarding passes.
There are not enough seating options and boarding only started at 21:15.
They ask you and indicate on the boarding to be at the gate 45min earlier as they start boarding and then you have to stand around.

The gate staff was rather unmotivated and snobby. No real priority boarding was conducted. They boarded everyone together with the addition that priority can board at their own convenience.

Adelaide Airport is definitely not made for international travel on long haul planes and I would recommend to choose another gateway.

The crew was ok during boarding but it was rather hectic in the cabin and everything was done in a hurry.

The seats were already equipped with amenity kits, headsets and water bottles. Welcome drinks as well as newspapers were distributed and you got your Pajama and Slippers.

Inflight:
I was sitting on the left hand side of the plane and the crew was ok, they were doing their job but without passion. The senior crew did not interact at all with its customers. He was doing his job stoic.


The flight attendant was trying to catch up for the senior and she tried her best.
The crew on the right hand side was vice versa and simply amazing. The ladies were welcoming and super present.
You could feel and see a big gap in hospitality between both sides.

I ordered an Apple Cooler drink as after take off drink together with the nuts. This time they were not heated up.
The soup was outstanding and delicious. The beef was ok and the dessert again was top.

The crew came and brought the mattress for my seat and made the bed out of it.

I went and changed into my Pyjama, brushed my teeth and had a good nights sleep.

The seat is simply amazing and super comfortable.

About 2 hours before landing I had breakfast. The fruits were not mature and hard like stones, the BirchermΓΌesli was good and the omelette was not eatable.
The food presentation was top again but the quality of the catering wasn’t good.

After my last 2 fantastic flights with Qatar Airways I had high expectations.
Unfortunately they could not be met on this flight.

The other issue is that in row 7 (and further) you almost get forgotten by the crew.The flight attendant from the other side tried to take over as best as she could.

Simply said: the hardware was top but the crew pulled down everything else.

I would still recommend Qatar Airways for future travels as the meals are usually restaurant style and the seats and inflight entertainment are amazing.

It just shows that the impression you get on board is directly linked with the crew.
