Paulβs Flight Report
Flight LX729
AMS - ZRH / Embraer E195-E2
On the Ground:
Check-in was very hectic as there was only one entrance for the Star Alliance Group.
All passengers, economy, business and first class had to pass through the self service Chek-in area with all the checkin kiosks which was completely congested.
After the kiosk they started to divide the passengers, economy for drop off on the left and all other passengers on the right. Luckily thanks to our Senator Star Gold status we were able to
use the priority side.
Staff at the desk was super friendly and helpful.
The security checkpoint was almost the same disaster as two weeks ago.
Also here we were able to use the priority lane and it took us around half an hour to get through.
Normal lanes waiting times were up to 2 hours and people were queueing already outside of the terminal building.
Staff again was super friendly and chatty.
Thanks to the Senator Star Gold status, we actually wanted to try the Star Alliance Lounge. The Star Alliance lounge in Amsterdam is still closed. Why @staralliance? All star carriers are
back in Amsterdam and the Aspire Lounge which welcomes at the moment all Star passengers as well as their own customers, priority pass holders etc. is completely overcrowded and no
comparison. Time to reopen your lounge Star Alliance.
Staff at the Aspire Lounge was good and friendly.
The gate was the next chaos. The incoming plane had a little delay. Boarding time was indicated with 14H30 and departure was scheduled at 14H55.
Boarding only started at 15H00 and no announcement was made as why there was a delay or when they will start boarding.
Gate agents were super unfriendly and unmotivated.
Then they started priority boarding at 15H00 and a short announcement was made. They boarded strictly zones 1 & 2 and sended all other groups away from the gate.
Water bottles were already distributed throughout the entire cabin an this was actually the entire service.
Inflight:
The Embraer Family is equipped with a 2/2 seating configuration. In the European business class only 1 seat per side is given out.
The seats are very comfortable and also the legroom in Economy is okay.
As Swiss has said goodbye to their Inflight service, all you get on all European flights in Economy is a bottle of water and the famous Swiss chocolate.
All other items have to be purchased from the menu on board.
The crew made an announcement before passing with the trolley, but the super motivated cabin crew (joke aside) she was almost sleeping whilst walking and whispering to not have to sell
anything aka not needed to work.
Prices for the F&B products are exorbitant expensive. just as an example :
A chicken sandwich costs 11.50CHF (11.75$) and a combo of cold cuts and a small bottle of wine costs 25. 00CHF (25.50$).
Prices for the Swiss Saveurs Menu are simply INSANE and a ripp of. You just pay the name "sprΓΌngliβ
A sandwich at a real bakery (Steiner Beck) at Zurich Airport in the Terminal costs 5.90CHF (6.40$).
So for everyone as a hint, bring your own food and drinks from inside the terminal as it is much much cheaper.
The cabin crew was from top to super flop. The senior cabin attendant was super friendly, attentive and interacting with the passengers.
The cabin attendant who helped with the business service was okay. No smiles or interactions but at least she was present.
The cabin attendant in Economy was simply useless. No interaction, no smiles and not a single word spoken.
With the F&B trolley she just walked through, not asking if someone would like to buy something and when clearing the cabin she just hold an empty drawer where passengers could put in the
rubbish. Also here not a single word spoken.
Someone like her should not be flying which such an attitude and work ethic.
There is no Inflight entertainment on this Aircraft.
No WiFi available.
Baggage delivery:
Baggage delivery in Zurich was good. First bags were delivered 26 minutes after arriving on the parking position.
First bags delivered were priority bags.
Summary:
Well, for such economy class flights without a proper Inflight service only the price counts. So if Swiss is cheaper than the competitors, you can book them.
