Paul‘s 218th Flight Review
Flight: LX381
MAN - ZRH / Airbus A220-300
Flight Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Business Class
During the Flight :
Amenity Kit: N/A shorthaul
Entertainment System:
After the Flight :
Baggage Delivery: N/A no bags checked
On the Ground:
We checked in the day before on the Swiss App.
As we had no bags to check-in for this weekend trip, we could skip the check-in at the airport.
Manchester Airport is a relic from the 90s and nothing has been done to date. The terminal looks just as old and dirty. It's a tragedy for an international airport when you have to set up
buckets when it rains to catch the water dripping in.
Security
control was a pure disaster. Waiting time was oaky with around 10 minutes but the security staff was super unfriendly, stressed and grumpy.
Entering
the UK, they are making a big fuss with Passport check for everyone and soon with an electronic travel authorization as otherwise you can't enter the country.
On
leaving the country, there was no check at all. No one checked our passports. You simply walk to the gate and fly off.
We did
not try the lounge in Manchester.
Staff at the gate was, let's say it polite, present and completely pissed and super grumpy.
The positive thing, priority boarding was conducted and they adhered to all procedures.
At the
aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member (Maitre de Cabine).
After
boarding the crew distributed water bottles and refreshing towels.
Inflight:
The seats are comfortable and ok. The regular European Business Class with a 2/3 seating configuration on this Airbus A220 where the middle seats remain empty on the side with 3 seats and
only one seat given out on the side with 2 seats.
Announcements of the cockpit crew were clear and understandable and so were the announcements of the Cabin Crew.
After take off, a cold snack was served. The meal was delicious and the food presentation looked good.
The tray consisted of a cold snack, fresh swiss cheese, a dessert as well as bread and butter.
Unfortunately the only choice was fish and several customers did not eat because they don't like fish.
The crew was rather unflexible with these requests. Instead of offering the Aperitif Snacks and a drink nothing was offered to these passengers.
All in all the cabin crew on this flight was super basic. They were friendly but did their job emotionless like robots.
You could see once more that the most crucial point on a flight is the crew.
The
Swiss Airbus 220 family is equipped with an inflight entertainment system which consists of mini screens above every seat row, where they show the safety video as well as the most famous film in
Aviation: "the map“.
No WiFi
available on this flight.
As we
had no bags checked in, we can not comment on the baggage delivery in Zurich for this flight.
All in
all an okay flight. Nothing to write about or to recommend it.
