On the Ground:
THAI Smile Airways is the low cost carrier of Thai Airways International and it has taken over almost all domestic routes with Thailand and even some routes to bordering countries.
THAI Smile Airways offers most of their flights out of Suvarnabhumi Airport and it is a Star Alliance partner.
So we arrived 1,5 hours prior departure at the airport. Thanks to our Senator Status with Swiss which is Star Gold we were allowed to check-in at the Priority /Premium Class counter.
At the counter we did buy a last minute upgrade into Thai Smile Plus class which is the premium product. The last minute upgrade did cost us around 35US$.

The agent was very friendly and welcoming. Check-in was done in no time.

The Security Check at Chiang Rai Airport was good. No queue at all and we were through in no time. Staff was friendly, efficient and helpful.

THAI Smile Airways has an own lounge in Chiang Rai for its premium customers.
The lounge is very small and when we arrived 1 hour prior departure there was no staff in the lounge and except for water, coke, tea and coffee, everything was empty.
Around 30 minutes prior boarding a staff member arrived and started to stock the lounge. Choice wasn't tremendous but once stocked it was ok. Due to tge the delay we were also able to get some drinks and snacks.
Staff at the gate was okay. Not super friendly but they performed their dury as per procedure.
Priority boarding announcement was made and the agent was waving with a sign so only prior customers would come forward.

At the aircraft door we were greeted by the senior cabin crew member. The crew was super present and friendly whilst boarding.

Still on the ground, once boarding was completed, the crew came to take the orders for the HOT!!!! Meal they would be serving on this 1 hour 10 minutes flight as well as the drinks.

Then the crew distributed hot towels prior departure.

Inflight:
The seats are comfortable and ok. The Airbus A320 has a 3/3 seating configuration.
Smile Plus Class is like the European business class where the middle seat remains empty.
The legroom is actually great and much better than at the back in economy. There is plenty of space.
THAI Smile Airways has actually 18 seats less than the LH group on their A320.
Announcement from the cockpit were okay and understandable.
Cabin Crew announcement were again super fast and very hard to almost impossible to understand the English announcement.
After take off, the crew distributed the tray with the hot meal, desert and drinks.
Choice for hot meals were green curry chicken with rice or friend noodles.
Given the short flight time of 1 hr 10 min the service was absolutely funtastic and the meals tasted really good and fresh.
Well done THAI Smile Airways.

The cabin crew was very friendly and helpful. They showed some passion for what they do.

The Airbus A320 of THAI Smile Airways is equipped with an inflight entertainment system which consists of screens above every third seat row.
They showed some advertisements about the sustainability program of THAI Smile.
No WiFi available on this flight.
Deboarding was done by bus. No special bus for premium class.
Baggage delivery of Thai Airways as handling company was a disaster this time at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport. First Bag arrived on the belt almost 1 hour after arriving on the stand. Bags came out completely mixed (prio and non prio).
I got my bag 1 hour 10 minutes after arrival as one of the last bags.
All in all a really fantastic flight with THAI Smile Airways. Great inflight product and great crew.
The arrival experience at BKK was a disaster. Baggage arrived 1 hour after arrival.
Definitely an Airline we can recommend for travels within Thailand.
