Paul‘s 151st Hotel Review for the
Details:
Duration of stay: 2 nights / City Trip
Check-in / Check-out:
Concierge Service: N/A, no concierge
General Info:
The hotel is located in Dornbirn, Austria close to the A14 Highway in the industrial district of Dornbirn.
A few steps from the hotel there is a shopping center and the trade fair hall. In front of the hotel there is a local bus stop which brings you to Dornbirn and Bregenz.
Otherwise there is not a lot in walking vicinity except some fast food restaurants and a very good Italian restaurant. Other than these, there are no restaurants and bars around and you have
to take the bus or your own car to go for dinner.
The renovation of the Hotel is now completed and the two new floors with the new rooms are operational. It has now a total of 162 rooms and suites.
The building is very modern from the outside and all public spaces such as the lobby, the bar/restaurant as well as the breakfast restaurant on the 11th floor are brand new and newly
renovated.
In the public areas, the hotel is very modern, beautifully furnished and does not really compare with the Four Points standard. This hotel is on a top level for a Four Points by Sheraton
Hotel.
It is acutally on the level of a Sheraton or Marriott Hotel.
Check-in:
The check-in was really nice. The agent was super welcoming. She greeted us with a smile when we approached the front desk and was very professional and did the check-in in a fresh breathy
way. As we have stayed already a few times at this property, it is sort of coming home.
The chatted with us all the time during the process, asked us how we have been and gave us all the information we needed for our stay.
Check-out:
Check-out was great too. The agent interacted with us and asked for feedback about our stay. He was super welcoming and explained the positions in the invoice. A brilliant end to a top
weekend at the Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus Dornbirn.
Again the Staff at the front desk in general is simply amazing. The crew is very young but they do a fantastic job.
They were super helpful and always friendly. If they have the time and the workload permits, they like to have a chat.
They show the famous Austrian hospitality and go above and beyond for their guests. Still one of the best front office teams in the DACH region.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition:
During check-in, the agent provided all the benefits which come along with our status.
We were asked, if we would like to have the points or the breakfast as welcome benefit an we were upgraded to one of the brand new executive rooms with balcony and mountain view.
There was a nice handwritten card in the room and as a welcome amenity a some nuts, two bottles of local beer and a vourcher for a drink at the bar.
All in all a good recognition as Ambassador Elite Member.
Eligible nights and points:
The nights as well as the points and revenue were posted within 48 hours and this was the first time since we stayed at the hotel that is was posted correctly.
Concierge:
The property has no concierge but the front desk helps as best as they can.
Room / Suite:
The brand new Executive Room with balcony and mountain view is simply stunning and wow!
The new Executive rooms is only a little bit smaller than the "older" Junior suites but you can't feel the difference. Vice versa, the room itself seems to have the same size and with the
balcony it even feels much bigger.
The room has floor to ceiling windows with a nice view over the mountains.
The atmosphere in the new room is simply amazing. Wooden floor, brand new interior, amazing lamps and light concept and some colors which freshen up the whole room. It gives you immediately a
warm and cozy feeling.
The room has a king size bed with a modern headboard, a desk and desk chair, a cozy colorful wing chair with a reading light and a modern wardrobe.
The balcony is huge and offers a sofa and a wing chair with a table, cozy cussions as well as a floor lamp.
The bed itself is simply amazig and offers a great nights sleep.
The bedding such as pillows and the duvet were super comfy.
WiFi was
working better during this stay but this is still something to improve. There are some places without connectivity and sometimes it is really slow.
Bathroom:
The new bathroom is also wow! Very modern with a huge and amazing rainforest shower. The water pressure is absolutely efficient.
It is very modern and also here an amazing light concept with modern lights and what I loved, finally a hotel in Europe who offers some night lights if you have to use the restroom. Very well
done.
Housekeeping:
Housekeeping was good on this stay. They have worked with their housekeeping and finally you can see and recognize a huge improvement compared to the last stays.
They also replenished the water bottles every day.
F&B outlets/ Lounge:
F&B is still the biggest contruction side at this property. Service and Quality is very volatile and it really depends on the chef and day as well as the occupency. It ranges from very
poor to very good, but more below.
Gastro Counter:
Gastro Counter is the hotel's sole bar and restaurant. There is no other F&B outlet available for dinner or drinks.
The Bar opens at 17:00 and the restaurant at 18:00.
As also this part is newly renovated, the interior is super nice and modern. There is a lot of wood and very bright colors to give the restaurant and bar a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel has
integrated some amazing new features like wireless mobile charger in the bar.
Also this time the drinks at the bar were very good. Staff was always super friendly, attentive and they took the time to chat with the customers. They are super present and on the ball what
is going on.
Luckily they have improved their food menu. The regular food menu a typical bar dinner menu but the good thing is they kept the additional menu with seasonal items.
We had
dinner 2 days in a row at the hotel. The first night, the restaurant was not really busy. I had the Cordon Bleu with a fresh salad. The food was really nice and delicious. The Cordon Bleu was
amazing an the cheese was melted and flow out of the meat.
The
second day i had exactly the same dinner. I had to return the Cordon Bleu twice. When it came out the first time, the cheese was a huge stick, still fridge cold. I returned it and asked if they
could heat it more. It came back 2 minutes later, the outer now very dark but the cheese still unmelted.
The kitchen at the gastro counter has huge problem in consistency and quality. It ranges from very poor, not good, to delicious.
I have figured out, that if the restaurant is full, the quality is very poor. the kitchen is stressing and sending out the dishes way to fast and in very low quality. Schnitzel are pale and
not good, Cordon Blue come out cold in the middle with unmelted cheese.
I do not want my food within 5 minutes, i am in a restaurant and i have the time to wait 15 minutes for my main. So the kitchen crew would be able to take much more time and to deliver a
higher qualtiy.
If the
restaurant is not full, then the food is much better, as the kitchen crew has more time to perpare it well and correctly.
This is
something huge the hotel has to work on with the kitchen crew.
Top View Breakfast restaurant:
The Top View breakfast restaurant is the breakfast venue of the property. It is located on the 11th floor and has a stunning panoramic 270° view.
Also this time we were still blown away.
Wowww... What a breakfast venue for a Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. They have even increased the items and choices since the last stay.
The restaurant up there feels more like on a cruise ship with the stunning view over the valley and the mountains.
The interior is simply stunning and wow.
The buffet is absolutely top. There is a bread and pastry station, fresh fruits and juices, cereals, hot dishes, cold cuts and cheese and many more.
During the week, you can choose from any hot egg dish you like and it is freshly prepared.
During weekends, only sunny side up eggs are prepared freshly, no omeletts are being offered and denied harshly by the crew.
I do not understand the difference in offereing omeletts during the week but not on the weekend.
Unfortunately the staff up here at the restaurant has changed. There is no more lead. They do what they want, like rather to chat instead of clearing tables or refill the buffet and the
friendlyness has decreased massivly compared to the last time.
Pool / Spa / Gym:
Still the biggest advantage of this property.
I have never seen a Four Points by Sheraton with such a huge pool/wellness area. The hotel offers a huge indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool, lots of saunas and steambath, hammam as well as a
relaxation area free of charge for all hotel guests. It was simply stunning!
So far the Hotel still has a spa, which is now outsourced. Never the less the old team has taken over the spa and is now running it as their own business. The treatments aren't cheap but as
we had one of the best massages last time we did repeat it and we can highly highly recommend the spa. Also this time the massage treatment was simply heaven.
Even they reduced the size of the gym massively with the renovation (used to be an entire floor which is now new rooms) they still offer a great gym for a Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.
Social Media:
Social media does post and repost some things on Instagram and Facebook and this time they even interacted on some of our posts.
Summary:
All in all another good stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Panoramahaus Dornbirn.
We really loved it and feel home away from home.
The hard product is simply awesome. A brand new hotel with a top hard product. Not to mention the pools, wellness and spa.
The soft product unfortunately is a bumby ride. The F&B needs urgently a real lead which works with the kitchen at the gastro counter and the service at breakfast.
Never
the less we can highly recommend this property.
