As many of our followers have asked what had happen that we walked from the Hotel.
Here a short review.
As you all know, we stayed the first time at the Berlin Central District Hotel in August.
Here our review from back then:

We thought already back then, that the check in was a disaster, as well as the entire front desk procedures.

But the GM made some efforts and made it to turn the whole situation around.

For this stay, we knew, that the GM has again already left the property at the beginning of the month.

So what happened this time?
When arriving at the front desk, there was no greeting, no welcome, no how was journey, nothing.
The grumpy agent simply said yes?
(OK, I can live with that. Bad day)
Rooms are not ready yet. Ok, I can live with that.
So I tell her we will go for a drink at the bar. She looks at me and says: you can't! The bar is closed. It will open late afternoon.
Me: OK, so which F&B outlet can we use?
Agent: none. All closed but you can go on a walk to Potsdamer Square and there are many restaurants.
Seriously a wanna be JW Hotel which should open in January as per Press and Marriott Information and being a 5 star hotel has no F&B?
Not a single procedure from Marriott followed. No recognition at all but really nothing.
So we went to sit in the lobby and did wait, more like a YMCA than a 5 star hotel.
I asked the agent if she could contact us when the rooms are ready. She said yes. After an hour watching a bunch of other guests check-in and getting their room keys I went back to the front office.
They had shift change an a new agent took over. Same disappointment and disaster as before.
When asking if the rooms are ready, yes they are.
So the agent finishes the check in process. Also from him no recognition at all.
Then he said we have a problem with the key system and I will bring you to the room with the passepartout and if you get out of the room you have to come to the frontdesk to reenter until the system works again.
Then most probably the Front Office Supervisor/Manager came. An elderly lady with military charm.
I told her all the issues and she couldn't have cared less and that I would be free to make my choices.
I felt so unwelcome at the property and more disturbing the staff that I checked out, canceled the reservation as I had a flex one and walked from the Hotel.
Here my super personal opinion:
This property with the current staff will never ever make it to become a JW Marriott Hotel.
The staff has the charm of Deutsche Bahn, seems to be working in a governmental environment (military) and they couldn't care less. They were and are and will always remain employees from Maritim Hotels, an old dusty German brand.
Change is impossible with this staff and most probably the Betriebsrat also blocks all changes to become a JW Marriott.
They act like: β€œit was always like this it will always remain like thisβ€œ.
Staff will not accept and/or carry out any changes to become a JW Marriott and follow their standards of hospitality.
Marriott or the property owner should have closed the hotel completely after taking over. Making all the renovations and changes and then reopen newly as a JW Marriott Hotel.
All loyal Bonvoy guests will be disappointed about the service and the Hotel destroys their own future even as a JW Marriott.
There is no Marriott style or spirit at this property.

I myself will definitely not return to this property as there is much better choices in Berlin.
