This stay was a two-night city trip to Stuttgart, Germany where we visited a good friend and explored the city of Stuttgart.
We have been to this property in 2017 and were not really satisfied back then (see old review on our homepage), so we wanted to give them a new try as the hotel was partially renovated.
The Le Méridien is located downtown Stuttgart around a 5 to10 minutes walk from the main train station. Walking downtown to the shopping street Königstraße and all the sightseeing places
takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
Right in front of the hotel is a new "metro" station so public transport is easy to reach as well. The location is good for a weekend trip to the city.
The Hotel itself is rated as a 5 star hotel and the rooms & suites are spread over 5 floors and two massive building wings.
It has a total of 280 rooms and 13 suites.
The check-in was awesome. The agent was friendly and helpful. She talked to the guests, did small talk and the whole process was done in no time.
Questions beforehand were answered via Bonvoy App Chat function in no time.
Marriott Bonvoy recognition at check in was good and all benefits (recognition, upgrade and points or breakfast) received.
For the first time in a 5 star Marriott Bonvoy property there was no note or small amenity in the room to welcome elite members to the property and to recognize their Status.
No more email beforehand from the Hotel or Ambassador service if something can be arranged.
So sad to see the Marriott Bonvoy program and especially the Ambassador Level going down the drain as Hotels and Marriott itself are trying to safe every single cent even on their highest
loyal customers.
Check-out was absolutely amazing. The agent interacted with the guests, took care of questions, and made sure everything was okay during our stay. Asked for feedback and made you feel super
welcome.
Staff at the front desk was always friendly and welcoming. They greeted all the time when passing the lobby.
I booked one of the renovated "Chic Deluxe Double Rooms".
As we didn't like the old rooms the last time, I wanted to try a new renovated room. Should you book a room here at this property, the term "chic“ is used for their renovated rooms.
Thanks to our Ambassador Status with the Marriott Bonvoy program, we were upgraded to one of their "sample" Junior suites from pre renovation on the 4th floor of the hotel. Unfortunately
there was no "chic" one available.
The junior suite would be very nice in terms of layout and size. It is actually bigger than a junior suite as you get a full living room and a full bedroom.
The interior is okay but it has a used and basic touch. It is rather dark, everything is held in different brown an beige colors. The darkness makes it unfriendly and gives you a heavy
feeling.
No, but absolutely no love to details in the room, no decoration, no pictures, no art and no colours!
The room looks like an old Courtyard room from the mid 1990's. This is not Le Méridien style and it is definitely not worth a 5 star rating.
Never the less the suite and the furniture was well maintained and clean.
The suite has a regular window front but the natural light cannot compete with the dark colors of the suite.
The air conditioning worked perfectly fine.
In front of the hotel is the massive construction site of the new train station "Stuttgart21" as well as one of the busiest traffic roads in Stuttgart. We couldn't hear any noise as the
windows are really very well sound proof.
The suite has a living room with a dining table and a couch
The bedroom has a king-size bed, a makeup table and an armchair.
Housekeeping does a good job. Everything was clean and tidy. Free water bottles were replenished every day.
The bed was super comfy, with some awesome bedding consisting of light and soft duvet and pillows. The mattress is good, rather on the firm side and we had a very good night's sleep.
The bathroom is new and looks modern. Also here dark colors but timeless and good looking.
The rainforest shower was perfect and had some great water pressure.
The regular Le Méridien hotel amenities were used and all other small items (q-tips, cotton balls etc) were available.
The "le lillet“ bar was okay, much better as last time. The renovation and new interior did some good magic.
The mojitos were good and the staff was friendly.
But... also here attention to details are missing. No glass mats were placed, no nuts or nibbles given out to cocktails etc.
As we visited a friend, we didn't have lunch or dinner at the hotel. So we are not able to rate their restaurants.
Breakfast was served at the restaurant on the ground floor.
The buffet was simply wowwww and amazing.
Lots of fresh fruits, yogurt, different dairy products as well as cold cuts and cheese. A big variety of fresh bread and croissants was also available as well as a beautiful hot dish station
were you could order egg dishes freshly prepared.
As said a fantastic buffet and the staff was very friendly, super attentive and helpful.
The hotel does not offer a lounge.
The spa is huge with a beautiful indoor pool and lots of available treatments.
A very well equipped gym is also available.
No interactions on social media from the Hotel. No answers or interactions on posts.
All in all a good stay at the Le Méridien Stuttgart but nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. The hotel has improved their soft product since our last stay but there are still little things
(attention to details) missing.
The hard product is something different. The hotel needs urgently to upgrade/renovate these sample rooms. These rooms are way below five star level and absolutely not Le Méridien style. I
would go that far that I would not accept an upgrade anymore if it is not in to one of their new "chic" rooms.
The hotel lives from the appearance of the Le Méridien brand more than it has to offer in reality.
Should you be in Stuttgart, it is a place you can stay but definitely nothing fancy, special or a modern Le Méridien.
I think the next time we are going to try the Aloft here in the city so we have something to compare with.
