Paulβs 145th Hotel Review for the
Details:

Bonvoy recognition:
Posting of points & nights: will be updated once done
After
almost one year we are back at the Marriott Hotel Stuttgart Sindelfingen.
General Info:
The hotel is located in Sindelfingen which is about a 20 minutes drive from Stuttgart without any traffic. With traffic it can easily double as Stuttgart is politically ultra green and does
everything to keep away individual traffic.
So the Name Stuttgart Marriott Hotel Sindelfingen can be very misleading as the hotel is definitely not located in Stuttgart and Sindelfingen is an own town.
Sindelfingen itself is a typical town in Germany with its charm. It has a pedestrian zone in the city and lots of shopping possibilities are around the hotel as well.
The Hotel itself is located over 7 floors with 258 rooms with ONLY 2 suites.
I have never seen a regular Marriott Hotel that size with only so few suites.
The hotel was only renovated a few years ago so it still looks very modern and appealing.
We did choose the Marriott Hotel Stuttgart Sindelfingen because we went for Christmas shopping at the Outletcity Metzingen (one of the biggest outlet shoppings in Europe) which is only a 30
minutes drive away.
And we were definitely looking forward to the steakhouse as it is one of the best.
Check-in:
The check-in was absolutely great. The agent was super welcoming and she was already smiling when we came out of the elevator from the parking. She did recognize us and welcomed us back at
the property.
Lots of small talk during the check-in process and it really felt like coming back home.
Check-out:
Check-out was absolutely fantastic. The agent interacted with the guests, was super attentive and made sure everything was okay
She really took the time to chat and didn't make you feel like a number.
Staff at the front desk at this Marriott Hotel is awesome.
They are always friendly and helpful. If the time and workload permits, they always interacted when passing by the frontdesk and always take the time to talk. The frontdesk team is an amazing
team and really takes great care of the customers.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite recognition:
Thanks to our Ambassador Status with the Marriott Bonvoy program, we were upgraded from a Deluxe King to an Executive King.
As the lounge is fully open also for breakfast, we were offered the points or an F&B credit as welcome gift.
There was a nice handwritten note in the room with a chocolate bar as welcome gift.
Eligible nights and points:
The points and nights were posted 24 hours after our check-out. Unfortunately the points and the eligible revenue were completely incorrect and I had the ambassador team correct it.
Room / Suite:
The room was very nice and big in size. Their executive king rooms are between 26-29sqm. The room even offers a small couch and there is definitely enough space. Great room for European
standards.
The interior looks modern and also the color scheme gives the room a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The room is very well maintained.
The bed is always a different story at this property. The mattress is suuuuper soft and I think that this hotel is not providing Marriott mattresses compared with other Marriott Hotels we
have stayed.
The positive this time was, that the mattress and topper were in good shape and okay and not worn out (see last review from 2nd Jan 2022 for additional information).
The bedding was top. The pillows were great and especially the duvet was super comfy
Bathroom:
The bathroom is rather on the small size compared to the room but it is modern and new. All amenities are available. There is a big walk in shower and the water pressure was okay.
Housekeeping:
The room was cleaned properly and the bed was done perfect and impeccable.
The areas were super clean and when we passed the housekeeping team in the corridor they were super friendly, greeting and smiling.
The Steakhouse:
The Steakhouse is the specialty restaurant of the property. We have dinner at this restaurant every time we are here. It is one of the best steakhouse we know.
Unfortunately today the restaurant was closed due to a private function.
Never the less, we were informed that we still could order all dishes from the menu at the βthe local" restaurant tonight.
The Local:
The Local restaurant and bar is the main restaurant and bar on the ground floor in the lobby.
The restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Compared to last time, the atmosphere at the restaurant was rather cold and unwelcoming. Very very basic and cold decoration on the tables. No x-mas decorations or any other warming
decoration at all. It seemed more like a waiting hall at a train station than a restaurant.
Staff at the Local restaurant last night was in our eyes a pure disaster and a disgrace for this property.
The guy behind the bar was super arrogant and unfriendly and on top he definitely did not invet work. He let everyone else run around.
The guy on the floor was super young, brand new, without training and had no idea at all what he was doing. Well he doesn't seemed to be interested either.
Then there was an arrogant younger lady which had no idea either what she was doing but had a massive overconfidence in herself paired with a bossy and arrogant attitude.
The folks/colleagues who came out of the steakhouse to help were also rather unfriendly and super stressed.
Customers had to wait 30 minutes to be able to order food or to pay the bills.
Staff is definitely nothing to recommend or return to this restaurant. What hurts most is that they used to have such an amazing team.
The bar itself was a disaster as well. Full house, super long waiting times and the drinks were mediocre. Well the guy behind the bar was the guy who was more interested in himself, arrogant
and who did not invent work.
They had no mint at all so we were not able to order a mojito and to do our tasting. Heavy if a full hotel bar is not stocked on a Friday night.
As said above, we were able to order the food from the Steakhouse Menu Card.
Even the ambiance and the service was poor the steaks itself (again) were simply amazing and woww.
The bill is quite hefty with 170β¬ for two people and the ambiance and the service at "the local" restaurant kills everything. You definitely feel it isn't worth that much money for dinner. No
table set up, you have to beg the waiters for bread, butter etc and you are sitting in a train station atmosphere.
It is definitely not the same ambiance as well as service level quality as you would get in the Steakhouse and I wouldn't order it again at the local restaurant.
Executive Lounge:
The "realβ lounge on the 7th floor is still closed which is super okay for me as the hotel offers a much much better solution on the ground floor.
The hotel offers now a lounge in the lobby behind the local restaurant. It is a completely separated and private part of the restaurant.
You can have softdrinks, coffee and tea all day long and from 17:30 the hotel is offering the evening drinks and dinner. Dinner is actually a real buffet dinner with salads, cold items, hot
dishes as well as dessert. In addition to the softdrinks you have the choice of wine, beer and some limited liquor.
The breakfast is also served here in the lounge which is the regular breakfast venue of this hotel.
The buffet looks very nice and offers everything you want for breakfast. They serve bread, pastry, juices, cereals, hot dishes, cold cuts and cheese and other items. They also have a hot egg
station where you can order your egg dishes.
Pool / Spa:
The hotel offers a small but nice pool on the ground floor, right above the gym. There is also a sauna and a small relaxing area.
Social Media:
Social media seems to be unknown to this property. They do post and repost some things on Instagram and Facebook but no interaction at all.
Summary:
All in all, an okay stay.
An absolutely fantastic front office team and great experiences with them.
A good and solid room and shower.
A disastrous F&B staff at the restaurant in the evening which had no idea what they did pared with an excellent steak from the steakhouse.
F&B has definitely some massive work to do to bring the service back to where it used to be.
Would I recommend to stay at this property?
Well if you are visiting Stuttgart, there is in our eyes better choices. If you are visiting Sindelfingen and surroundings then it is an okay property to stay.
