After almost exactly two years, we are back at the Marriott Hotel Stuttgart Sindelfingen. Spoiler: With the GM change, the house has lost its best employees, and the soul of the hotel is gone.

General Info:
The hotel is located in Sindelfingen, about a 20-minute drive from Stuttgart without traffic. With traffic, it can easily take twice as long, as Stuttgart is politically ultra-green and does everything possible to discourage individual car traffic.

The name Stuttgart Marriott Hotel Sindelfingen can be very misleading, as the hotel is not in Stuttgart. Sindelfingen is an independent town. Sindelfingen itself is a typical German town with its own charm. It has a pedestrian zone in the city center, and there are many shopping options around the hotel.

The hotel spans seven floors with 258 rooms, but it only has two suites, which are mostly rented out. Suite upgrades here are nearly impossible. I have never seen a regular Marriott hotel of this size with so few suites.

The last extensive renovation took place in 2018/2019, where the lobby, lounge, bar, restaurant, and buffet area were redesigned. The rooms were last renovated in 2014.

We chose the Marriott Hotel because it is the only property in the area with a lounge, the rate was currently fantastic, and we were definitely looking forward to the steakhouse, which used to be one of the best. This was our fourth stay at this property.

Check-in:
The check-in was good. The agent was super welcoming and was already smiling when we came out of the elevator from the parking garage. Lots of small talk during the check-in process, and it truly felt welcoming.
Check-out:
Check-out was good too. The agent interacted with guests, was super attentive, and ensured everything was in order.

Staff at the front was friendly and helpful. However, compared to our previous stays, the spirit is gone. They do their job correctly and fine, but that’s about it.

Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite Recognition:
Thanks to our Titanium Status with Marriott Bonvoy, we were upgraded from a Deluxe King to an Executive King. Since the lounge is closed for breakfast and only open during the day and happy hour, we were offered welcome points and breakfast in the restaurant.
There was a prewritten note in the room from the GM with some popcorn as a welcome gift. Dear GM, instead of just handwriting the guests' names (which, by the way, felt like something you had to do, rather than wanted to do), we suggest either signing the card or writing everything by hand.
Eligible Nights and Points:
The nights, points and revenue were posted 24 hours after our stay correctly to the account.Β
Room / Suite:
The room was very nice and decent in size. The Executive King rooms are between 23-26 sqm. The room even offers a small couch and provides enough spaceβ€”a great room for European standards.

The interior looks modern, and the color scheme gives the room a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The room is also very well maintained.

The bed is always an issue at this property. The mattress is on the softer side, and I believe this hotel does not provide Marriott-standard mattresses compared to other Marriott properties we have stayed at. It simply does not feel like a Marriott bed.

The duvet was top-notch. The pillows, however, were a disasterβ€”completely worn out and far from comfortable. The filling was twisted, leaving only lumps to feel.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is on the smaller side compared to the room, but it is modern and well-maintained. All amenities are available. There is a big walk-in shower, and the water pressure was okay.
Housekeeping:
The room was cleaned properly, and the bed was made perfectly and impeccably. The areas were super clean, and when we passed the housekeeping team in the corridor, they were super friendly, greeting and smiling.

F&B Outlets / Lounge:

The Steakhouse:
The Steakhouse Sindelfingen is the specialty restaurant of the property. We have dinner here every time we stay at this hotel.
The food was okay, and so was the service. But again, the spirit is gone. It was nice, but like everywhere in the hotel, the icing was missing. The food was fresh and tasty, but we’ve had better meals here before.
Prices are becoming really expensive, and if this continues, the quality and service will no longer match the price. It was Friday night, and the restaurant was nearly empty.
The Local:
The Local is the main restaurant and bar in the lobby.
The atmosphere is still cold and unwelcoming. The staff does their job but nothing moreβ€”no interaction, no customer connection, and no teamwork.

The drinks from the bar were good and tasty.

Staff here is definitely not a reason to return. What hurts most is that they used to have such an amazing team.

Breakfast at The Local Restaurant:
Breakfast is served at The Local Restaurant. The buffet looks great and offers everything you want for breakfast: bread, pastries, juices, cereals, hot dishes, cold cuts, cheeses, and more. There is also a hot egg station for custom egg orders.

Breakfast staff was the most welcoming and pleasant throughout the entire property. They didn’t do much, but at least they interacted a little with guests.

Executive Lounge:
The Executive Lounge is on the 7th floor and is open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM for soft drinks and lounge use.

Happy hour and dinner start at 6:00 PM, featuring a full buffet dinner with salads, cold items, hot dishes, and dessert. Soft drinks, wine, beer, and limited liquor are available.

The lounge is closed for breakfast, and elites and lounge guests have breakfast at The Local Restaurant instead.

Pool / Spa:
The hotel offers a small but nice pool on the ground floor, above the gym. The pool area feels cold and uninviting. It could definitely benefit from a touch of warmth and thoughtful decoration to make it more welcoming. A bit of greenery, some cozier seating or ambient lighting would go a long way in improving the atmosphere.
There is also a sauna and a small relaxation area.
Social Media:
Social media interaction is minimal at this property. They post and repost some things on Instagram and Facebook but have no real engagement.
Summary:
All in all, an okay stay, but nothing more.
The room and shower were good and solid.
The best staff (front office, servers, etc.) have left.
The former GM, Mrs. B, who was always there for her guests and team, has left.
The hotel feels like it has lost its soul.
The new GM is not present and not a leader. Being a boss is easy, but guiding, motivating, and leading a team is something else.
Staff does the bare minimumβ€”no engagement, no extra mile, just completing tasks.
Breakfast was really good, and drinks at The Local Bar were good.
The Steakhouse has lost its glamourβ€”from outstanding and special to just good. Prices are too high for the current quality.
Would I recommend staying here?
If the price is lower than hotels in Stuttgart, yes, but have no expectations.
If visiting Sindelfingen, it’s an okay choice.
If visiting downtown Stuttgart, there are better service options.
