We haven't been back at this property for a little more than 3 years.
The circumstances we booked this stay were very special and super short notice. Simply check the last review of the Berlin Hotel Central District.
The hotel is located very close to downtown Berlin.
Lots in the vicinity can be reached by feet.(shopping center, restaurants & bars, museums and most of the famous sights).
A walk to the Kurfürstendamm takes around 15 minutes and to Potsdamer Square around 20 minutes.
The property has a total of 354 rooms and 40 suites spread over 7 floors.
The property was renovated a few years ago and looks still very modern and it is in good shape.
Check-in:
The check in was simply amazing.
We booked the rooms around 20 minutes prior of showing up at the frontdesk.
The agent was very professional, super friendly and helpful.
When she greeted us and got to know our last name she immediately said that she just saw our booking coming in a few minutes ago for the two rooms and that she will try to allocate us two
rooms close to each other and to upgrade one of the room thanks to our status.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite recognition:
Thanks to our Ambassador Elite status we were upgraded to a beautiful and cosy Business Corner Suite.
Normal recognition at check in, thanking for the loyalty and explaining the current offers for Ambassadors.
Breakfast is offered at the regular restaurant at the moment as the lounge is still closed. In addition you also get the 1000 welcome points.
For dinner you can choose a dish at the restaurant which is also offered.
The lounge is still closed due to the limited space and the high amount of elite guests. With the current COVID laws in Germany it wouldn't be possible to keep it open for everyone.
At check-in the agent told us that the room keys would already be programmed for late check-out. She did offer it without asking. A big bottle of water was ready in the fridge.
Check-out:
Check out was completely different to check-in.
The agent was super quiet, didn't ask anything and to me it seemed that he was super shy.
The concierge next to the agent started to chat with us whilst the agent was busy and the concierge checked if we would need any additional help.
Room:
I love the rooms at the Sheraton in Berlin. They are of bright colours and oak wood style furniture.
You have massive windows which allow a lot of natural light to come in and you also have the possibility to open the windows to get some fresh air.
The aircon isn't the strongest one but it does its job. You always have the option of opening the windows.
WiFi worked well and also the speed was good. No issues to work with the laptop in the room.
A little boring is the process that you need to sign in every 24 hours. The log in will not last for your entire stay.
The bathroom also is bright in color and offers a shower and a bathtub. Otherwise a regular hotel bathroom.
The king size bed was super comfortable and the mattress was top. A little on the hard side which we like. Pillows and duvet were amazing and we had a really good and a restful sleep.
F&B outlets/ Lounge:
Eclipse Lounge:
The eclipse lounge is currently the only F&B outlet which is open as Bar as well as for lunch and dinner.
We went for several drinks and the staff was simply amazing. They interacted with the customer and offered a great service.
Breakfast was served in the breakfast hall. There are currently no cut backs due to covid. The entire buffet is available.
The food was super delicious and super fresh. The buffet was massive and offered a lot of cold choices as well as a live egg cooking station. Staff was attentive and super friendly.
All in all a great stay.
We didn't go back to this property as we had several staff and customer service issues during our last stays back in 2018. This time we haven't had a real choice to book the Sheraton. We did
not regret it at all.
Staff really went above and beyond and offered a great service. You can feel a big difference and a lot has changed. Maybe the new GM which came after 2018?
After this stay we will take the Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade in our considerations again and we can recommend to stay at this property again.
All in all a great stay.
