Due to the well known reasons we haven't been to Bangkok for 2 years.
This time we decided to try the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok for our first 2 nights.
The current rules for us to enter Thailand require a lot of paperwork bevor you leave home. You need to get a Thai Pass QR code before your journey, which again is needed together with a pcr test (not older than 72 hrs) to be able to enter the country.
In addition to get the QR code you need to book a SHA+ hotel for the first night together with a "Welcome Back Test & Go Package". Test an go package must include the transport from the airport via Hospital (pcr test on arrival) to the Hotel. Once in the Hotel you need to stay in the room (quarantine) until the hotel receives the result from the pcr test. As soon as you get a negative result you are released and are allowed to move around Thailand freely.
The JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok is a SHA+ hotel and also offers the Welcome back test and go package.
Everything was perfectly organized from the hotel. The pickup at the airport as well as the mandatory pcr test.
The hotel is located in between the two SkyTrain stations Nana and Phloen Chit. Both can be reached within a 2-3 minutes short walk. This makes it quite easy to explore Bangkok with the Public transport.
Otherwise we do recommend to use Grab so you want have any discussions or bargaining with Taxi drivers.
The property is a long standing one in Bangkok. A massive renovation was done the last few years and almost all public areas as well as the guest rooms haven been newly renovated.
The hotel has a total of 24 floors with 391 rooms and 50 suites.
Check-in:
The check in was simply amazing.
The agent was very professional, super friendly and helpful. You could feel the hearted hospitality.
Absolutely top Service. You felt immediately welcomed at the property.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador recognition:
Thanks to our Ambassador Elite status we were upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom Suite on the top floor.
Normal recognition at check in, thanking for the loyalty and explaining the current offers for Ambassadors.
Breakfast is offered at the regular restaurant at the moment as the lounge is closed during weekdays for breakfast. In addition you also get the 1000 welcome points. The lounge is open from 10:30AM for drinks and coffee and in the evenings they serve dinner. From Monday to Thursday it is from 18:00-20:00 and on weekends it is so full that you have to decide on a slot either from 17:00-19:00 or 19:00-21:00.
Lots of water bottles in the room but no other recognition such as a card or a welcome drink/snack.
Check-out:
Check out was good and the agent interacted with the customers. He made sure everything was okay during our stay.
Concierge:
The Concierge team is so so.
The concierge on duty during our time, which is inside in the lobby right where everyone but absolutely everyone must walk by was super snobby. We passed the desk on one day for sure for 6 times (in and out) and we were not greeted a single time by the concierge even he looked at us and we greeted him. An absolute no go and arrogant behavior.
Otherwise the Bellboy/girl team on the ground floor at the entrance is amazing. They are the ones of this team that understand to connect to customers and to interact with the guests.
Always there to chitchat if time permits and always ready to give amazing hints and tips for the city.
Room / Suite:
The one bedroom suite we got was stunning. We were given one of the Suites on the top floor (24th) and the suite was super comfortable and had a great atmosphere.
The Interior is modern with some small ancient and classic Thai accents and decorations. A fantastic mix.
Both rooms, the living room with own kitchenette as well as the bedroom are big in size and feel very airy and comfortable. Lots of natural light comes in with the almost floor to ceiling windows. The aircon works pretty well and you can steer both rooms individually.

The king size bed was super comfortable and the mattress was top. A little on the hard side which we like. Pillows and duvet were amazing and we had a really good and a restful sleep.

The bathroom is very big in size and it is light on colors. It has a huge walk in shower as well as a separate bathtub. Otherwise a regular hotel bathroom.
I do looove the JW Marriott amenities. In my eyes they have the best Shampoo and shower gel of all Marriott Brands.

WiFi worked well and also the speed was good. No issues to work with the laptop in the room, Lounge or lobby bar.

Housekeeping is amazing. They do a fantastic job and if you see them in the corridors or by the rooms they are always smiling and interacting with the guests.

F&B outlets/ Lounge:

Lobby Lounge Bar:
As the name says, this bar is in the lobby. The staff there is simply awesome. They ladies connect with the customers and we have had one of the best Mojitos in a long time.
JW Café:
Before I start, breakfast was simply wow and difficult to put in words.
I would rank it the second best breakfast I have had in a hotel in my entire life!
Breakfast was served in this restaurant. The restaurant is also renovated and looks amazing. Even given the huge size you don't feel like in a big restaurant as it has a sort of private rooms and niches.
They have 2 big live cooking stations. One for Asian style breakfast (soups etc) and an egg cooking station. In addition almost every cold station is served and manned. Such as the juice and fruit station. Fresh fruits, smoothies and juices are prepared live or the bakery station with different croissants, danish and pastry. In addition they have market style fridges with cheese, cold cuts, ham and the biggest salad station I have ever seen for breakfast. No need to say the food was amazing.
Staff and service was top notch, everyone was going the extra mile for the customers and everyone has this amazing an from us loved heart of hospitality.
Lounge:
The Lounge.... Oh well...
The Lounge is located on the 16th floor. It is also newly renovated and beautiful. It is quite massive in size and also has a balcony. So the hardware is absolutely amazing.
The staff is super friendly and interacts with the guests. We went during the day to make some pictures and everything looked so amazing and promising.
But....
When we wanted to go for a drink and snack before dinner I thought the blow would hit me.
The Lounge was overcrowded and our fellow Elite Members (Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador) behaved like animals. They besieged the buffet, the bar as there would be no more tomorrow and were worse than hyenas. Seriously just because something is free there is no need to freak out and forget all manners dear fellow Elite members.
So we left immediately as we were disgusted by the behavior of the people and we didn't feel safe with so many people in a room.
(instead we went to the lobby lounge to have a cocktail in peace).
In addition the hotel has 6 more F&B outlets. So far this is the hotel with the most restaurants and bars I have been to. Due to our 2 nights stay (one in room quarantine) we were only able to try the ones described above and roomservice.
Apart from the 3 F&B outlets above they also have:
- New York Steakhouse
- Tsu Japanese Restaurant
- Nami Teppanyaki Steakhouse
- Man Ho Chinese Restaurant
- BBCO (coffee house)
- Manhattan Bar
Pool / Spa / Gym:
The pool, spa and Gym is located on the 6th floor.
The pool itself is beautiful and thanks to the age of the hotel it is nestled in lots of green. The pool area is rather small but when we were there kt it was always empty. So JW guests does not seem to use it often.
The spa is open from 9am to 11pm. Treatments are price wise okay for a 5 star hotel.
The Gym is just next to the spa. It is absolutely massive in size. As it looks like the gym and part of the spa area haven't been renovated.
All in all a very very good stay.
The hotel has an awesome location and is newly renovated. Most of the staff does an amazing job and goes the extra mile for their customers.
F&B and it's Staff is amazing and we had one of the best hotel breakfast ever.
This hotel will definitely make it in our go back to list should we revisit Bangkok.
We can definitely recommend this hotel.
