Paul‘s Hotel Review for the
Details:
Duration of stay: 2 night / vacation
General Info:
The hotel is located in Pathum Wan district very close to Lumphini Park and right next to the BTS Station "Chit Lom"
So getting around with public transport is not a problem at all here in Bangkok.
The hotel is set back from the main road and has a total of 333 rooms including suites. All in all the hotel is spread over 24 floors.
The hotel isn't the newest anymore. Never the less, in general, it is in great shape. It is super stylish, modern and has a great colour concept throughout the entire property where redish
colours are the dominant part and includes other items which represent a lot of the Thai culture.
They were able to mix the modern Renaissance vibe with a rather older building.
Refurbishment is actually ongoing especially in the rooms.
Check-in:
The check-in was really good. As our flight landed at 6 Am in Bangkok and thanks to our Ambassador Status it was the second time in 6 years that I asked for the your24 Status Benefit which
was granted by the Hotel immediately.
So we were able to check-in at 8 AM without problem and we were even upgraded to a Renaissance Corner Suite.
The agent was super friendly, helpful and chatted with us during the whole process. She explained us everything about the property, (restaurants, lounge, spa, pool locations etc) and we felt
comfortable from the first second.
Check-out:
Check-out was great too. The agent interacted with us and asked for feedback about our stay.
Staff at the front desk was always super friendly and helpful and if they had the time also very chatty.
They greeted all the time when you passed the lobby and had always a smile on their face.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition:
During check-in, the agent acknowledged our status, thanked for the loyalty and we were upgraded to a Renaissance corner suite.
As the lounge is not open for breakfast, we were offered breakfast at the regular hotel. The lounge is open all day and attended with an agent for help. They offer tea, coffee and soft drinks
throughout the day as well as small snacks.
From 17:30 until 19:30 there is the happy hour in the lounge. A full bar is offered with an absolutely amazing buffet of snacks, cold cuts, salad, dessert as well a full hot buffet for dinner.
The lounge offering is simply amazing and the staff is super attentive, friendly and helpful. Absolutely great lounge experience.
They prepared an gigantic welcome in our room together with some handwritten cards.
Thailand is simply hospitality customer heaven and this property definitely lives up to these values.
All in
all a fantastic recognition as Ambassador Elite Member.
Eligible nights and points:
Eligible nights, points and revenue was postetd correctly 24 hours after our stay to my account.
Concierge:
We didn't use the concierge service except for ordering taxi or some questions about a location.
Also here the staff was wonderful. They were always there to help, they greeted us all the time and had a smile on their face.
Bathroom:
The bathroom simply massive in size and quite modern as well.
It offered a huge stand alone bathtub, a massive walk in Shower with a bench and rainforest shower head and a huge double sink.
Also the bathroom has an almost floor to ceiling window. Whilst in the bath tub you have an excellent view over the city or a fantastic night view whilst brushing your teeth before bedtime.
Housekeeping:
The room was cleaned properly and the bed was done astonishing perfect and impeccable. Housekeeping did a fantastic great job.
The hotel also offers an impeccable turndown service.
Housekeeping staff was super friendly and greeted every time you passed them on the hallway.
The room was super clean as were the public areas.
WiFi:
WiFi workes perfectly fine throught the entire hotel and the speed is also good. No issues to work or up/download any data.
F&B outlets/ Lounge:
Flavors:
Flavors is the main restaurant of the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel. It offers Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We only had breakfast at this restaurant. The breakfast buffet is very big and amazing. It has different stations you can choose from. There is a bread and pastry station, fresh fruits and
fresh squeezed juices, cereals, hot Asian dishes, hot Western dishes as well as a live egg cooking station. They also offer a signature egg dish.
The quality of food was delicious and everything was freshly prepared.
The staff at breakfast was good, depending on whom you got. Some of them were absolutely amazing, super friendly and interacted with the customers and others were simply robots.
Fei Ya:
This is one of the speciality restaurants of the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel. It is open for lunch and dinner.
Fei Ya offers Cantonese food. We were able to try this restaurant for lunch and the food was amazing. One of the best Chinese dishes I've had.
La Tavola:
This is the second speciality restaurants of the property. It offers Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner.
We didn't have the time to try this one out.
R-Bar:
R-Bar is the lobby bar. Open all day and offering also some bar snacks to eat.
Unfortunately on the first evening we were not able to use the bar as they had a private function. As the only bar in the hotel you feel sort of excluded and there is no other place you can
sidestep.
We tried on the second night again and this time we were almost the only guest. The bar is very modern and nice. They had live music playing which was rather on the very loud side. The drinks
were good and also here the staff was super friendly.
H2O:
H2O would be the pool bar of the hotel, located on the 23rd floor.
Unfortunately the bar was closed but you were able to order drinks and snacks via roomservice to the pool.
Executive Lounge:
The lounge is located on the 21st floor. It is a beautiful lounge, modern and stylish with lots of windows overlooking the city. The lounge is not open for breakfast, we were offered
breakfast at the regular hotel. The lounge is open all day and attended with an agent for help. They offer tea, coffee and soft drinks throughout the day as well as small snacks.
From 17:30 until 19:30 there is the happy hour in the lounge. A full bar is offered with an absolutely amazing buffet of snacks, cold cuts, salad, dessert as well a full hot buffet for
dinner.
The lounge offering is simply amazing and the staff is super attentive, friendly and helpful. Absolutely great lounge experience.
Pool / Spa / Gym:
The pool is located on the 23rd together with the Spa and a massive Gym.
The pool is really special as it is fully roof covered but still all sides are open. It feels like an indoor pool with fresh air. The area by the pool is really quite and we spent some time
in the afternoon up there.
The gym is massive on size and offers everything from cardio machines to lift weights.
The Quan Spa is also located on the top floor. As always in Thailand the prices for hotel spas are exorbitant high.
Even comparing with other good spa's outside the prices are still 6 times higher. I do understand that there is a difference in quality but it does not justify the massive price difference.
We used as always in Bangkok a spa outside of the hotel but not a cheap one like the ones on the street.
Social Media:
Since we do Paul the Sheep, the Social media team from the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel were the most engaged we have ever had. They interacted on posts and stories, wrote messages
and shared posts. Absolutely great social media team and we would appreciate if other social media teams would just do half of it.
We were also able the meet the team personally and to have some great interactions with them.
Summary:
An absolutely fantastic stay and it shows that the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel is living the hospitality spirit to the fullest.
Fantastic customer service from A-Z combined with outstanding staff. Every single person is going the extra mile with a smile and passion.
We can highly recommend to stay at this property and also we will reconsider this property for future travels to Bangkok.
