First and foremost the biggest asset of this property is their staff. Everyone, but really every single associate we met or saw was going the extra mile for every single customer. This is customer service and Thai hospitality at its best.
I would like to say thank you very much to all of them who made our stay extraordinary.
Simply amazing.
The hotel is located at Mai Khao Beach. We have visited Phuket many times before and I have to admit that Mai Khao Beach is one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches I have seen on Phuket.
Mai Khao Beach is located only a short 15 minutes drive from Phuket international Airport. Phuket town is around 50 minutes away by car and famous Patong around 1 hour 15 minutes. (always depending on the traffic)
There is not lots around the hotel. There are a few street kitchens around 500 meters from the hotel and there is a small shopping mall and some restaurant and bars around 2 km from the Hotel easyly reachable by bicycle or a nice walk.
The property itself is nestled in lots of trees, palm trees and green. It isn't the newest property anymore but it is absolutely well maintained and still looks awesome and modern for its age.
The hotel consists of different main hotelbuildings which have 4 floors and some villas with private pools. It has a total of 150 rooms and 30 suites.
See attached property map.
Check-in:
The check in was amazing and perfect. We were immediately greeted by the Guest Service & Loyalty Manager who escorted us to the check-in desk.
The Check-in agent interacted with the guests, was super friendly and welcoming. It was such a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
We got all the details about the property and information needed for our stay. Once the process was completed, we were escorted to our Villa.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador recognition:
Thanks to our Ambassador Elite status we were upgraded to a beautiful Villa with private plunge pool.
Normal recognition at check in, thanking for the loyalty and explaining the current offers for Ambassadors.
Option given to choose a welcome gift and we have chosen the breakfast.
The hotel offers 20% F&B discount for Elite members in all outlets as well as on Spa treatments.
There was an absolutely stunning welcome gift in our room. The hotel team has prepared a Mojito self mixing set as our welcome drink as well as a nice welcome card.
Check-out:
Check out was good but nothing special or personal. Simple business transaction with little interaction.
Concierge:
The hotel does not have a real concierge or we simply couldn't figure that out.
Most of the time we were approached by either the Guest Service & Loyalty Manager, a member of the frontdesk team or the bell boys if we would need some assistance.
As the hotel location is very remote and the local taxis are trying to charge horrendous amounts we got the tip from the Guest Service & Loyalty Manager to use Vecay Phuket for our transportation.
You can book and pay them easily online and the prices are super fair. For example we wanted to go to Patong where the local taxi charges around 1200B one way we paid 1400B return with Vecay and got a top service from them. The drivers were always on time and if you have questions or want to change the pick up times you can simply chat with them.
Room / Suite:
The pool villa we were given was beautiful.
Lots of natural light thanks to big windows and a great homey atmosphere.
You could access your private pool from your bedroom, the sundeck as well as from the bathroom.
The villa was perfectly nestled in the green with lots of trees.
The interior looks great and has a great and warm atmosphere thanks to some fresh colors mixed with wood and wooden beachy decor. Furniture is functional but still timeless and classy.
The aircon was working perfectly fine.
The king size bed was in the middle of the villa. The mattress has seen its best days and was worn at some points. Luckily the topper could make that up a little bit.
The bed is rather on the softer side and the bedding itself (pillows and duvet) were amazing.

The bathroom was simply wowwww and massive in size. There was a huge bathtub which easily fit 2 people, a massive double vanity with lots of space and a huge walk in shower with jungle view. This for sure is one of the best hotel bathrooms we have seen.

WiFi is a little hassle at this property. It goes on and off all the time and you have to reconnect often. There are two different WiFi's (Guest and open one) and you have to switch between the two. There are some places with no connections.
In our villa we had the best connection in the bedroom.
Speed of the WiFi is okay and sufficient to stream and to work on the laptop.
Housekeeping is amazing. They do a fantastic job and if you see them around on the property or by the rooms they are always smiling and interacting with the guests. Super friendly and attentive service.
Water bottles were replenished every day.

F&B outlets/ Lounge:

Loca Vore:
Loca vore is the main restaurant of the hotel. As per description on the homepage Loca Vore is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
During our stay it was only open for breakfast and the breakfast in the restaurant was simply outstanding.
The buffet is huge and has different stations you can chose from. There is a bread and pastry station, fresh fruits and juices, cereals, hot Asian dishes as well as a live egg cooking station.
The quality of food was delicious and everything was freshly prepared. Absolutely top top level.
The staff was simply stunning and doing an amazing job.
Takieng:
Takieng is the Thai Restaurant of the Hotel located by the beach. The restaurant offers a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea as well as a beautiful inroom dining.
The food was delicious and on a high level. The restaurant has a cooperation with the blue elephant and serves some signature dishes. Unfortunately the signature dishes are super special and most non Asians would most probably not eat them. The restaurant is positioned as fine dining but in our eyes it is a normal restaurant with great food and atmosphere. The staff again, as everywhere in the property, is amazing but service wise some inconsistency during our stays.
Sand Box Restaurant and Bar:
Also this outlet is located by the beach and serves as poolbar and restaurant during the day and as restaurant and bar on the evenings. As the name says the restaurant and bar is in the sand. It has a super relaxed and casual vibe. The menu is more easy food heavy and has some pub style.
You will find burgers, pizza as well as some pasta and other simpler dishes on the menu. A cosy chill place.
The Lounge:
The Lounge would be the lobby bar. The location is simply awesome. You have a great view over part of the resort.
Unfortunately it was closed during our stay.
Doppio:
Dopoio is sort of a coffee house with sweets and cakes and they also serve some super healthy dishes like salad and poke bowls.
Elite Lounge:
The hotel has no lounge.
Pool / Spa / Gym:
The pool area is great. The pool has a decent size with an integrated jacuzzi. You have lots of options to choose from where you want to relax.
There are sunchairs by the beach, under the trees and palm trees in the shadow as well as on the pool deck with umbrellas.
The pool staff was amazing and always there to help with towels, exchanging drinking water or simply for a nice chat.
The pool bar staff was always super attentive and the drinks and snacks served out of the Sand Box Restaurant were really good.
Quan Spa:
A heaven on earth place. Beautiful architecture and amazing landscapes with ponds pools.
Staff is amazing and the treatments are top notch. They are quite innovative and offer a 3 or 5 day package for fixed prices. We took the 5 day package which included 5 treatments at the spa, two activities as well as two light lunches at doppio.

The gym is separated in two different parts and rooms. They have a cardio room as well as a weight lifting room. The gym is decent in size and offers everything you need for a basic training.

Social Media:
The hotel is present on social media but will not interact except of liking some pictures on Instagram.
Facebook seems to be inexistent for this property as the fully concentrate on Instagram.
Unfortunately you will not find information about the property, rooms, F&B etc on their channels. This is sad as. Today many people are checking social media channels to get information.
All what the social media team does is liking and reposting Instagram pictures from influences. There isn't a single picture on Instagram without an influencer on it.
So sad as nowadays social media is so much more than just liking and reposting of influencer pictures.
All in all a fantastic stay at the Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa. We really enjoyed staying here and we were able to recharge our batteries.
The hotel isn't the newest anymore but in good shape and well maintained. Still a beautiful resort.
Customer service is top notch. Every single staff member goes the extra steps for the guests and they always try to be one step ahead. Management is super present at this property and there wasn't a single day were management did not help the staff (GM clearing tables at breakfast, F&B Manager helping out at the pool, head chef helping the servers etc) and chatted with the customers. They are true leaders.
The rooms and villas are in great shape and offer a cozy home away from home.
Breakfast was great and the other two F&B outlets were good. What we missed was a regular dining possibility at this property. You only have the option between Thai or Beach / Pub style food. A real dinner Restaurant with international options is currently missing.
We can definitely recommend this hotel should you be staying in the area and also we will be coming back.
Again a big thank you to all the staff and a bigger kudos for their achievements and performance.
