We have been to Bangkok a few times before and this time we decided to try the Westin Grand Sukhumvit.


All in all it was a pumpy ride with this property with many ups and downs.

The hotel is located right next to the SkyTrain station Asok and 100 meters from the Metro station Sukhumvit. This makes it quite easy to explore Bangkok with the Public transport.
Otherwise we do recommend to use Grab so you want have any discussions or bargaining with Taxi drivers.

The check in for a Westin Grand was a disaster. We were not allowed to check in at the frontdesk but were escorted to the Club Lounge for check in. This would normally be a big plus but unfortunately the lounge was so overcrowded that the agents didn't really have the time to check us in. They were so stressed and running around that the stress immediately swapped over to the customers. No space to sit for check in, loud, people in your back and stressed agents.
A warm and hearty welcome is completely different.


We did check out in the lounge too. Much better as the Check-in and the agent had more time. Unfortunately same robotic way of working.

Regular front desk at floor 7 is different again. The hotel has a huge front desk. The agents did not even greet when passing and having eye contact.

Bonvoy recognition is amazing. All perks received without asking. We were upgraded to a suite. The lounge itself is amazing. 20% discount on F&B.

The Concierge and Bellboy/girl team on the ground floor at the entrance is amazing. They are the only ones who understand to connect to customers and to interact with the guests.
Always there to chitchat if time permits and always ready to give amazing hints and tips for the city.

The deluxe suite we got was stunning. We were given one of the nice Deluxe Suites and they are comfortable and have a great atmosphere.
The Interior is rather timeless with some small modern accents.
The hotel itself isn't the newest anymore. It has the classic "old" olive green/wood Westin style.

Housekeeping is amazing. They do a fantastic job and if you see them in the corridors they are always smiling and interacting with the guests. You can see that they are under Westin contract and not outsourced. They love what they do and you can feel and see it in your rooms.

The staff at the pool bar were super friendly and interacted with the customers. They were always around and did an amazing job. The food and drinks were nice.
The pool itself is nice. Unfortunately there aren't enough sunchairs and umbrellas. It is rather in the tight side.

Zest bar at the hotel lobby vice versa is a place not to recommend. It has a train station atmosphere. Staff is working like robots. No interaction with guests and no passion for what they do.

The lounge is amazing in terms of F&B staff and the great selection they offer in terms of food and beverages. Breakfast is stunning, a great selection of snacks over the day and a stunning dinner.
The food is super fresh and changes daily.

All in all an ok stay, but ...
Great hardware, software could be improved. There is no passion and this hearted hospitality which you can usually find in Thailand is completely missing.
As there are so many choices in Bangkok I wouldn't go back to this property. Out stay at the Marriott Sukhumvit was on a way higher level.
