General Info:
The hotel is located at Balluta Bay, right between Sliema and St.Giulian. The location is a very convenient to explore Malta.
Within a 10 minutes walk you can easily reach a lot of restaurants and bars, whilst Balluta Bay is more quiet. There is a Bus stop right in front of the hotel. Public transport is very convenient in Malta and from that bus stop there are direct busses to Valetta and even to the Ferry to Gozo. For a touristy weekend the perfect spot.
The Hotel itself has 13 floors with a total of 274 rooms and 27 suites.
This property uses to be the Le MΓ©ridien Malta before it went under a 30 Million Euro complete renovation. The reopening was in early 2020 as the Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa. Unfortunately then COVID hit and the hotel was closed for another year. It was only opened in 2021 ans so the Hotel is brand new.
Check-in:
The check-in was simply wowwww. It was one of the best check-ins we have ever had.
The agent was super welcoming, very friendly, kept chatting throughout the entire process and made you feel more than welcome.
She gave us all the information about the property (bar, restaurant location and opening hours, spa gym information, lounge location, pool etc etc). She did the whole process with such a passion about the property that you simply wanted to explore everything. She even escorted us to our room.
Check-out:
Check-out was perfect too. The agent interacted with us, made sure we had a great stay and asked for feedbacks.

Staff at the front desk is top. Every time you pass they do great, ask if everything is okay and they are very helpful.

Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition:
During check-in, we were thanked for being an Ambassador Elite Member.. We were upgraded from a Standard room to a Mediterranean Suite. As a welcome gift we could choose between the welcome points and a 10€ gift voucher on F&B per day.
As the Hotel has a Lounge which is closed for breakfast, we were entitled for breakfast at the Marketplace Restaurant which is the breakfast venue of the property.
The lounge is open all day for softdrinks and Coffee/tea and a happy hour from 17:00-19:00.
In the suite there was a welcome card from the GM with a bottle of red wine and some chocolates. Elite recognition at this property is really good.
Eligible nights and points.
Eligible nights and points were posted correctly after 24 hours of our stay.
Concierge:
The concierge desk was manned during day.
We wanted to have some hints and tips about a restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately the concierge didn't have much knowledge about the surrounding restaurants that we went on TripAdvisor to find a place.
The concierge then offered us to call and make a reservation.
The agent was friendly and helpful but might need some more knowledge about the area.
Room / Suite:
The Mediterranean Suite we got upgraded to was simply stunning. The Suite is massive (80sqm) in size and it has a huge balcony overlooking the Balluta Bay.
The living room has a couch, couch table, sideboard and a TV as well as a dining table. There is a half bathroom attached to it. The bedroom is big with a king-size bed, a huge wardrobe, a desk as well a TV. Attached is a bathroom and an additional toilet in a separate room. Over the entire length of the two rooms is a balcony with chairs and table overlooking the Balluta Bay. Both rooms have massive floor to ceiling windows which can be opened fully.
The interior looks modern and gives a great atmosphere. It is very modern and timeless classic with a little beachy atmosphere. The different lamps and lights make the difference and the modern look.
WiFi worked perfectly fine throughout the entire property.

The bed was simply awesome and very comfortable. The bedding such as pillows and duvet were super comfy. We had some great and comfortable sleep.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is massive in size with a big bathtub as well as a huge shower. It is super modern and bright. There is a huge window which allows lots of light to get in. The toilet is in a separate room.
The shower works fine but the pressure is rather on the low side. I do understand that the island has water supply issues but then a rainshower head might not be the best solution.
Housekeeping:
Housekeeping does a fantastic job. The rooms are cleaned daily and there is also a tie-down service every night. The rooms are well looked after

F&B outlets/ Lounge:

Atrio Bar and Restaurant
The Atrio Bar and Restaurant is the hotel bar and restaurant next to the lobby. It's design is beautiful, bright and has a warm atmosphere.
Drinks at the bar were delicious. Staff is outstanding and very open and communicative. They take the time to chat and interact with the customers.
The Atrio restaurant offers some great food. The menu isn't big but the quality is top. Compared with other hotels the Atrio restaurant is a great alternative compared with the restaurants outside of the hotel. Prices are the same as outside but the quality of food is much better.
Also in the restaurant the staff is outstanding.
Marketplace
Marketplace is the breakfast venue at this property and it is used solely for that purpose.
The breakfast buffet is quite big and has different stations you can chose from. There is a bread and pastry station, fresh fruits and juices, cereals, hot dishes as well as a live egg cooking station.
The quality of food was good and everything was freshly prepared. Due to covid protocols everything is behind plexiglass and is served from staff.
Also the staff at breakfast is amazing and is interacting with the customers.
The Villa
The villa would be the higher end restaurant of the property. It is a villa of the 19th century on the property overlooking the Balluta Bay. Unfortunately during our stay it was still closed but will be reopened for the summer season.
Sundeck Bar
Sundeck bar is the pool bar on the 12th floor. Currently still closed and will be opened for the summer season.
Executive Lounge:
No words for this lounge except a simple Wowww. It is the best lounge I have ever seen in Europe and many other places. Located at the top floor of the hotel with a stunning view over the bay and huge terraces around the lounge. An amazing and modern interior and fantastic and friendly staff. The Guest Relations Manager was also present in the lounge and used the possibility to connect with the guests and make sure everyone and everything was fine.
Coffee / tea and softdrinks are available the entire day. From 17:00 bis 19:00 they serve drinks and cocktails in the Lounge as well as snacks. The buffet looks amazing and is very good to enjoy a nice aperitif before dinner. The buffet is manned and due to covid protocols behind plexiglass.
Pool / Spa / Gym:
The outdoor pool is located on the 12th floor. It is a very nice pool area with cabana roofs and deck chairs. On the 2nd floor is the indoor pool, spa and gym. The pool, sauna, jacuzzi is open to all hotel guests. It is a beautiful spot to relax and hang out. The gym is quite big and offers a great variety of training equipment.
The spa itself is operated by Myoka Spas. The therapists are super friendly, welcoming and attentive. We decided for a customized spa massage. Prices are rather expensive with 150€ for a 85min treatment. The receptionist recommended us this treatment. The massage was great and relaxing but... The only customized thing with this treatment was the price. Otherwise it was exactly the same as a regular aroma oil massage which would have cost 115€ and to our disappointment they offered the couple massage for 195€ for 85 minutes. This leaves a bad taste as you feel sort of being cheated and ripped off
Social Media:
The hotel is very active on social media but unfortunately no interaction on posts.
Summary:
An absolutely great stay at the Malta Marriott Hotel.
It is one of the best Marriott Hotels we have stayed so far.
Beautiful modern property, amazing suites and rooms and great public areas.
The staff is simply amazing at this property. Every single associate is going the extra mile for the customers. We haven't met a single staff member which hasn't shown passion for what he does.
The biggest treasure at this property is its staff.
The combination of top hardware and amazing software made it an outstanding stay.
Hopefully they can keep the service standards during summer when they expect a 100% occupancy.

The Hotel is even investing further and is currently constructing a massive pool area as well as additional F&B outlets on a plot of land next to the current property. This will be simply amazing.

We can highly recommend this property and we will be back for sure.
