The Ashnil Mara Camp is located in the Mara Triangle of the Masai Mara National Park. The drive from Sekenani Gate takes approximately 1 to 1,5 hours.
The camp has a total of 56 beautiful Safari Tents and it is nestled right a the Mara River in a small forest of green trees.
From everywhere in the camp you can get a glimpse over the Mara River and its habitants. (Hippos and Crocodiles).

Check-In:

The check in was simply great. The agent did welcome us to the camp, offered a fresh juice and explained us everything in a calm and relaxed manner. She was super friendly and helpful and there was no computer needed and available for a check-in.

Staff at the front desk was good and always helpful. Also here it was really up to the person who was there.

Check-out:

Check out super pleasant and friendly. The whole process takes a little time as everything is done by hand. Agent was super attentive and friendly.
We didn't want to leave.
The entire lodge is Africa pure. This starts from the architecture, to the entire decoration but most the hearted hospitality from the staff.
The lobby opens up immediately to an open porch overlooking the Mara River. This is also the bar and lounge area. At night they light up a nice fire pit. Right next to the reception there is a small but awesome curio shop. They sell local handcraft and other souvenirs.
We were assigned a beautiful double bed safari tent with a great view over the Mara River.
The tent is huge size wise and bigger as many hotel rooms.
The interior design is pure African Safari style, lots of wood, nice deco elemts and small colorful accessoires to brighten up.
The big big asset of our assigned tent was the terrace overlooking the river.
We could observe the hippos, some crocodiles and other animals directly from our porch. Beuatiful nature view and absolute African safari feeling.
The bathroom was huge in size. There was a massive walk in shower, a seperat toilet and a huge area with a double sink and lots of storage space.
The shower was simply wow. Water pressure was better than in many 5 star city hotels and after a long safari day out in the sun and dust this felt like heaven.
There is free coffee and tea in the room as well as two bottles of water which are refilled daily.
As you are completely out in the bush there is no WiFi in the tents and it isn't needed. I loved being offline.
In all public areas, such as lobby, bar, lounge and restaurant there is WiFi and it works well. The speed is also okay.

Restautant / Bar:

The camp includes all meals in the nightly fare. All drinks have to be paid separately except for coffee and tea. That is always available in the lounge area.
All meals are served at the restaurant in form of a mix as buffet and a la carte. Soup and Salad was always a la carte and served at the table and the main course and dessert was always a buffet.

All meals were super delicious, freshly made and super tasty. A huge compliment to the entire kitchen team to perform such tasty meals in such a remote place.

Breakfast was super delicious and you have lots of choices. There is fresh fruits, toast, croissants, Danish pastry, cold cuts and a live eggs cooking station.
Lunch and Dinner always had an awesome choice of vegetables, rice or potatoes, meat, chicken or fish and there were always two South East Asian options. If you didn't find anything you liked from the buffet there is a live pasta cooking station for lunch and dinner.
The bar is located next to the lobby and restaurant. It has a beautiful covered lounge, a big open porch and a nice area for a nightly fire pit.
They serve a wide range of drinks and cocktails as well as some classic food dishes throughout the day.

The F&B staff, really every single one is simply wow. They offered an incredible, impressive and impeccable service. Simply wow and never expected at such a place. In addition they do with heart and you feel taken care of from the first second.

Pool:

The lodge has a small but beautiful pool. It is a relaxing place and especially something to enjoy between the morning and afternoon game drives.

Spa:

The Camp has a small spa and offers treatments and massages.
We have tried 2 massages and they were okay. Unfortunately this place definitely needs some love and attention as you feel like in a train station waiting room. No attention to details and the tent has no ventilation at all. If you have your treatment in the afternoon you will be sweating.
The massage therapist could need some training in customer service. I would not recommend it, instead have a few relaxed hours at the pool.

Summary:

All in all this was an amazing stay with a 5 star customer service in a rural African bush atmosphere.
Absolutely stunning!
The greatest asset of this Camp is its staff. They offer an amazing hearted service. I haven't seen something like this in month. You feel at home and secure immediately.
To all the staff members at Ashnil Mara Camp: Asante kwa huduma nzuri na kwa ukarimu ambao tumeweza kupata. Asante kutoka chini ya moyo wangu.
Would I reconsider this camp for a future stay?
Absolutely yes and we didn't want to leave. We will be back ourselves.
