First of all, let us tell you that we have found a new property for our top 3 favorite hotels.
Yes, it is not a "luxury collection" or a "Ritz Carlton" it is a very simple Protea Hotel. But please read below why and what made it so special.
The hotel which is called the Protea Hotel Amani Beach Dar es Salam is actually located in Kigamboni.
Kigamboni itself is around 1,5 hours drive south of Dar es Salaam.
The hotel itself is located far away from everything in a green tropical garden and has its own beach. When you enter the property you are diving into another world of peace, tranquility and relaxation.
The hotel has only 10 bungalows on this huge property so it will never get crowded. For 3 nights we had the entire hotel for ourselves and during the weekend it was fully booked. You couldn't feel any difference or change in service if empty or full.

The property itself has a main house which includes the reception, lobby area and the restaurant / bar. In the massive tropical garden you can find the 10 bungalows nestled in the green with lots of privacy and there is a pool restaurant / bar by the pool and beach.

The check in was amazing. We were greeted outside on the curbside from the check in agent and the resident manager. The whole process was done in the lobby area of the main building. The process was a real breece, easy and welcoming. No hassle and no big bureaucracy just a great welcome and all Marriott Bonvoy perks received. The most important thing for the staff was arrive and relax.
By the short time we were finished, our bags were already brought to our bungalow.

Check out was good too and the agent was friendly and helpful. It actually really hurt to leave this property after a fantastic week.

All the bungalows are about the same in size. So there is no real difference.
The bedrooms are huge as well as the double kingsize beds.
The bathroom is massive in size as well. There is a separate shower and toilet cabin as well as a bathtub.
In addition you will find a walk in closet in all the bungalows.
The rooms are well maintained for the age of the property.
The decor is a mix of African design as well as some oriental touches coming over from Sansibar.
We really felt super comfortable from the first second we got into it. It gives you a save and homey feeling.
There were two big welcome plates with fruits on the table as well as a bottle of sparkling wine.
In addition the room was decorated with flowers all over. They even changed the flowers in the room and bathroom during our stay.
All Bonvoy benefits received for a select brand property and some even topped during these times.
The look of the hotel reminds me of an old hacienda farmhouse.
You got the main building which includes the reception, sort of lounge/lobby area as well as the restaurant. The restaurant is very open with a nice patio.
The bungalows are nestled in the garden and there is a big pool right by the beach. There is an additional pool bar and restaurant by the beach which serves food and drinks during the day.
The property has a private white sandy beach as well as a big pool.
There are enough sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone. The good thing also here is the plenty of space. The chairs are wide enough spread on the pool area.
Housekeeping and cleaning staff is fantastic and does a great job. The cleanliness was top notch.
All COVID safety measures perfectly and strictly implemented.
The food in the restaurant at the main building was simply amazing.
The food was always freshly prepared from local products. I had different fish and seafood for 7 days and it was super delicious. The grilled octopus was one of the best I have ever had.
There are also many other dishes you can choose from. The variety goes from International cuisine to local Tanzanian dishes.
At the same place breakfast is served. When we were alone, we could choose from an a la carte breakfast. Over the weekend a nice buffet was set up.
There were plenty of fresh fruits, Danish and toast as well as many different hot items.
Lunch is served at the beach restaurant. There is a nice menu with warm and cold snacks as well as proper dishes.
The F&B staff is super friendly and hearty. There is always a smile and time for a chat.
As a Protea Hotel by Marriott the property has no lounge.
All COVID safety measures perfectly implemented. Everyone wearing a mask and hand sanitizing stations throughout the entire hotel.

The hotel isn't active on social media. Only a few posts on Facebook but only little interaction with followers and content creators. No Instagram profile.

So and now let me try to explain why this property made it to our top list.
Yes, as said... it isn't a Ritz Carlton or Luxury Collection. It is a simple but beautiful Protea hotel. And still with only 10 Bungalows it is more of a little hideaway than a hotel.
The property isn't new or in top notch condition but well maintained.
The whole set up emits a feeling of being in a save haven.
All staff, from housekeeping, F&B to gardeners and cleaners do an amazing job in customer service. Everyone is trying to create some magic moments for their guests.
We haven't met a single person which is not going the extra mile. Everyone does their job with passion and pride and is delivering a top notch service.
The resident manager is delivering an amazing customer service. He is around all the time and takes care of everyone and has always an open ear.
He is actually living for this (his) property and the well-being for his guests.
It is definitely a place to relax, unwind and forget what is happening around.
It is really difficult to explain but we would describe it as: " An absolutely stunning customer service with a flair of "hakuna matataβ€œ in paradise".
We felt home and taken care of from the first second at this property.
