Paul‘s Hotel Review for the
Details:
Duration of stay: 2 nights / Birthday getaway
Bonvoy recognition:
At Check-in:
Posting of points & nights: follows later.
General Info:
The hotel is located on the far east city boarder of Sion.
A few steps from the hotel there are 2 to 3 pubs and bar where you can go for a pun style dinner. Right next to the hotel there is a rather expensive restaurant. Otherwise they are in the
final step of completing the building and the last tenants are currently moving in.
To move around or to get into the city we do recommend to travel by car. Going downtown would also be possible by public transport.
The Moxy Sion is rather new and just opened last year.
It has a total of 142 rooms which are classified as regular double rooms, deluxe rooms because of the mountain views and a few Family rooms.
The hotel in general is in good shape as it is new. Some things seem to have been built very cheap or there is simply a lack of maintenance.
The Moxy vibe is all over and we love this fresh and young atmosphere. The interior is super modern, trendy, bright and colorful.
This vibe can only be found at the Moxy.
Special at Moxy is the actual center piece of every lobby. This center piece combines the front desk, the bar and restaurant all in one.
Check-in:
The check-in was okay. They agent was super friendly and chatted with us during the whole process.
Check-out:
Check-out was good. The agent interacted with us and explained the final invoice.
Staff at
the front desk was always super friendly and helpful and if they had the time also very chatty.
Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Recognition:
During check-in, the agent acknowledged our status but that was about it.
We were asked, if we would like to have the points or the breakfast and we decided for the breakfast. Never the less the breakfast was on the invoice at the end and removed without any
issues.
We
booked a deluxe room with mountain view and that was the room we got.
There
was no welcome amenity in the room on the first night but we were super surprised that when we returned on the second day, that there was a birthday card and some very delicious sweets in the
room. They really surprised us with that but it was an awesome surprise.
All in
all a good recognition as Ambassador Elite Member for a Moxy.
Eligible nights and points:
To follow as soon as points and nights are posted. The review will be updated accordingly.
Concierge:
There was no concierge but the front desk helped where they could and as best as they could.
Room / Suite:
The Moxy deluxe room we got was nice. It has the same size as the regular rooms. The deluxe comes because of the mountain view instead of the carport. The room was equipped with a queen bed,
the wall mounted wardrobe and small desk and it had a big window which could be opened. The room itself was super modern, trendy with useful furniture and decoration. The typical Moxy room.
The aircondition worked perfectly fine.
The bed
itself was good. The mattress is rather on the firm side. The bedding was so so. The duvet were super comfy but the pillow was unfortunately a brick.
WiFi is
without login in the entire hotel and it worked perfectly fine. Also the speed was great.
Bathroom:
The bathroom was on the smaller side but it was okay and it was the typical Moxy bathroom. It was super modern and bright. The bathroom in our room definitely would need some love from
maintenance. The toilet seat was completely loose on one side. The shower rod was also loose and the shower gel dispenser didn't work at all.
Housekeeping:
The room was cleaned properly and the bed was done properly as well. Housekeeping did a great shop.
The room was super clean as were the public areas.
F&B outlets/ Lounge:
The concept of Moxy Hotels provides only a Bar with Snacks and the Breakfast Buffet.
We had a few drinks at the bar but didn't try their snacks as we went outside for dinner because of the birthday.
The drinks were good and the staff was amazing. Super friendly, chatting and helpful.
Breakfast was super good for a Moxy Hotel.
The buffet is absolutely great. They serve bread, pastry, juices, cereals, hot dishes, cold cuts and cheese and other items.
The quality of the food was really good.
Staff was the same as at the front desk as they have to do everything.
Some were friendlier and more helpful whilst others were more grumpy. But all in all a great team.
Pool / Spa / Gym:
The hotel has a small but well equipped gym but nothing else.
Social Media:
Social media seems to be rather unknown to this property. They do post and repost some things on Instagram and Facebook but very irregular and no interaction at all with their followers.
Summary:
All in all a good and nice stay at the Moxy Sion.
Nice, comfortable rooms, great breakfast and good staff.
We can recommend the Moxy Sion and we will be going back ourselves in winter.
