General Info:
The hotel is an old warehouse dating back to 1844, lovingly restored with beautiful original features throughout.
Sitting on the banks of the River Irwell, the Marriott Victoria and Albert Hotel id ideally located in the city centres newest neighbourhood, St John’s, opposite The Factory Theatre, home to the International Festival and adjacent to Spinningfields Central business District.

The hotel has a total of 148 bedrooms including suites. All of them are unique and individual. They offer modern comforts in a range of Double and King bedded rooms, with interconnecting, accessible and family rooms for individual travellers, groups, tours and teams.

The hotel is only 8 miles from Manchester International Airport, 5-minute walk from St Peters Square and Deansgate Tram Stations to connect guests across Greater Manchester and key transportation hubs.

The hotel was fully renovated in 2021 and is in great shape. It does not feel at all like a regular Marriott Hotel as they are usually typical business hotels and rather cold.
This property spreads a warm and cozy atmosphere from the first second you walk into the lobby.
For us Europeans everything can be reached by foot and is in walking distance.
Check-in:
The check-in was great. The agent interacted and talked to us during the whole process. She was super friendly and attentive. The check in felt very smooth and esd was done in a breeze.
Check-out:
Check out was good too. The agent made sure everything was okay during our stay and interacted with us.
Front desk in General :
Staff at the front desk was very good. They were attentive and helpful if you had questions or needed assistance.
Staff in general:
The staff throughout the entire hotel was super attentive or friendly. Housekeeping greeted all the time when passing them on the floor. Staff at F&B was attentive and friendly and so was the front desk.
Marriott Bonvoy Recognition:
The Hotel adhered to all Marriott Bonvoy procedures and all benefits received automatically.
At check-in, they asked which benefit (points or F&B amenity) we would like to have, as breakfast was included as this Marriott Hotel has no lounge.
They upgraded us to a very nice and cozy junior Suite which has an amazing atmosphere.
When getting into the room there was a card with a welcome note, some typical Manchester soft drinks and some chips.
Late check out at 4PM was guaranteed as well.
All in all a great Titanium Elite recognition at this property.

Posting of points & nights:

The posting of the points, nights and revenue was done less than 24 hours after checking out. Everything was posted correctly the next morning on my account.
Thank you!

Room/Suite:
All rooms and suites were renovated in 2021 and are in great shape.
The Junior Suite we got is absolutely fantastic in size and has a very warm and cozy atmosphere.
The suite is held in an industrial look style. There is lots of wood, the classic brick walls as well as metal details.
Color wise it is held in a blueish/beige color. The suite had two big windows overlooking the river and could be opened for fresh air.

When you enter the Junior Suite you have a desk and chair on the left. Further in, you have nice couch and an arm chair with a table and the TV and if you turn around the corner your have the Kingsize bed. Next to the bedroom you have a walk in wardrobe and there is also the bathroom.

Bedding was okay. The mattress was great and rather on the firm side, exactly how we like it. The duvet was light and fluffy. Unfortunately we did not really like the pillows. They are on the very firm side.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is okay in size and has also been renovated. The floor is made of stone tiles and the amenities are very modern. It has a walk in shower and a normal size vanity.
The water pressure in the shower is great.
Housekeeping:
Housekeeping does a great job and the rooms were always tidy and impeccable clean.
There was no turn down service provided.
F&B:
The hotel has only one F&B outlet which is the Chop & Plant. It is located on the ground floor right opposite of the reception.

It serves as Breakfast venue, Bar and as regular hotel restaurant.

Breakfast at Chop & Plant:
The buffet has a very decent size and is split in a continental section and a hot English Breakfast section.
The continental area offers bread, bakery an area with cold cuts some fruits and yoghurt, a juice station and some cereals.
There was a big difference of the buffet during the week days and the weekend days. During the week there were fruit plates, salmon and fresh Joghurt. These items were not available on weekend days and it seems that they save on these more expensive items when there are more people.

The hot buffet was a typical English breakfast. In addition, they have a small menu where you can order other breakfast items as well as fresh egg dishes such as omelettes or poached eggs.

The quality of the food was good and everything was fresh.

Staff at breakfast was super friendly and welcoming. They are smiling and offer a fantastic customer service. If time permits, they are always up for a chat.

Chop & Plant Bar & Restaurant
We tried the bar almost every night. We had some drinks, cocktails as well as some bar nibbles.
We haven't tried the restaurant.
The drinks were delicious and the food was very good, tasty and delicious.

Staff at the bar & restaurant were also great and welcoming.

Pool / Spa / Gym:
The hotel has no pool, no spa and no Gym.
You can use a gym nearby.
Social Media:
The hotel is active on social media and does post quite often.
The interaction with posting guests is rather poor. Some likes but no real interaction or comments.
I have the impression that the hotel is not handling social media themselves but a agency.
Summary:
All in all a very good stay.
A absolutely untypical Marriott Hotel.
Fantastic hotel hardware with a modern and a great atmosphere. Stunning and beautiful suite.
Staff was great throughout the entire property.

We can highly recommend this property and will consider it ourselves when coming back to Manchester.
